Description

If you enter your Google Account password or Google for Work password into anywhere other than Google's sign-in page, you’ll receive an alert, so you can quickly change your password if needed. Password Alert also checks each page you visit to see if it's impersonating Google's sign-in page, and alerts you if so. FAQ -- When will Password Alert take effect? Password Alert will initialize itself the next time you enter your password into accounts.google.com. -- Does Password Alert store my password or keystrokes? No. Password Alert doesn’t store your password or keystrokes -- instead, it stores a secure thumbnail of your password, which it compares against a thumbnail of your most recent keystrokes within Chrome. -- Where does Password Alert send data? If you are using Password Alert in a Google Account, Password Alert does not send any data from your local computer. If your Google for Work administrator chooses to deploy Password Alert across your domain, the administrator will receive alerts when Password Alert triggers. -- What are Password Alert limits? Password Alert only operates inside the Chrome web browser when Javascript is enabled. Password Alert doesn't protect Chrome Apps or Chrome Extensions, and it only protect incognito tabs if configured at chrome://extensions. It also does not protect passwords for non-Google services. -- Where can I find more details? Visit the full FAQ at https://support.google.com/a/answer/6197508, or you can see the entire open-source codebase at https://github.com/google/password-alert. Use a password manager, even a free one. Browser based password managers are NOT secure, regardless of this useless feature.

Not even usuable on a Chromebook due to how the account system is set up.

this conflicts with passwords already saved with my google account, google now asks me to sign in every time I recall a pw. nnoe of my saved pw on google sign me in any more. I never really had a problem with pw/s I just wanted to use this as a throwaway pw solution.

Maybe you would specify if it is compatible only with ChromeOS chromebooks because it synced from another account of mines with Chrome browser yet seems uneuseful. Non so a cosa possa servire se non funziona... e il collegamento https://support.google.com/a/answer/61975 è mancante..

not working

★☆☆☆☆2017-12-02

Doesn't warn for Google Suite for Business accounts. I guess they are not as important to protect as my personal one(where it works)

There is no option to change the password that it should detect against phishing.

I typed in the wrong password then hit enter, then password alert will remember the wrong password. There will then be no alerts when i type in the correct password in third-party website.

Completely Idiotic... Why is it alerting me if i use my gmail/google username on any website??? Isn't the purpose is to prevent use of same password instead???? Does it expect me to remember a different username too?????

I have changed my password, but when i input it, the app still warns me.

If I was to type my password into another website it would alert someone that this is my password for my gmail account, found it got in the way of browsing

This is insecure. It saves a truncated salted SHA1 (37 bits) and the password length.

5 stars for trying to improve the security, but -4 for making it an extension. Do you really think that the audience that is vulnerable for phishing attacks searches and installs extensions? Such a feature should be a part of the Chrome Browser itself.

Google Chrome is giving me a safety alert about this extension, can you confirm if Google is still actively managing this? I see it hasn't been updated since 2018. Google Chrome Alert: "On • This extension hasn't published privacy practices, such as how it collects and uses data" Thanks!

How to activate it? I am already logged in and when I click on activate it brings up the google search page

There is a conflict operating with the current release of Google Chrome. It is no longer able to register that you confirmed your password and is constantly asking for the password to be re-entered. When will this be fixed? Where is the support page? Just because this is a google extension should not mean that there are special rules.

It'll be much better if there's an option for the extension to expire the password once it detects password has been keyed in on a fake sign in page. I cant put a review through my G Suite account. Its not working on G Suite account

Generating false positives after CAS pwd change. Does not provide supportive detail when triggered.

This has been integrated into Google Password Manager since June 2023, which itself is part of Google Chrome, thus making this extension outdated and redundant.

Well I added the extension but concerned because in other reviews the general understanding is that it asks you to re-log in when you add the extension but it did no such thing when I added the extension which is my worry....

When I add the extension, I get a notification saying I need to login to my Google Account. When I click on 'Sign in', nothing happens. I have no idea how to activate the extension now. Uninstalling.

It's good for your account if you enter you google account, but we all know that Google stores and sells our data. Just read the ToC carefully. OwO

Login detection is unreliable. Couldn't tell whether it's working or not, had to reinstall it several times.

It previously alerted when I typed a password that was NOT my Google password. This was corrected by reinstalling the extension.

Works great, except for the fact it alerts you AFTER you enter your password and submit it. Perhaps this is a feature to prevent phishers to get around this extension and to motivate people to change their password, but still; a window of time for attackers is a window of opportunity to do some damage.

Since I have started using the extension I have changed my password but this still complains when I use my old one and not my new one...

I don't know why this Chrome extension is triggered whenever I enter an old Google password in another website when in fact I already changed it days ago.

Only support for one google password? My apps domain just isn't that important? That said, good idea. Looking forward to more.
