A zero star rating is in order here. No matter where I click on the page the utility launches a duplicate inactive page that does not respond to any other clicks anywhere on the page. It basically is setting the focus in a locked field on a separate page entirely would be my guess.

Truly this not reformat your HDD but just erase something. If hacker have your Chromebook compromised, nobody and nothing help you - period. Google even never. If you recover Chromebook, be aware not share your password with others around. It is very simple find out, if chromebook is yours or hackers.

pathetic. can not erase and reformat anything once this app has killed your USB device. google's long term persistence to own hardware is untenable, I hope it leads to a worldwide class action

Would put 0 star if possible. Trying to fix Chromebook that's not working by recovering with a new version. Keeps exiting with the same error code: Unknown error: CHROMEOS_IMAGE_BURNER_ERROR. Please try again. Messed up a perfectly good USB of mine.

Fried my USB drive. DONT USE THIS.

Do not use this if you're trying to make a bootable drive, lost a 128 gb 3.0 USB drive while trying to fix my PC. Though the process ran smoothly when I was still clueless as to whether or not my USB drive would work after the formatting process. Just hoping there's a way I can repair my USB drive now, seeing as it cost me 20$ only to have it be bricked by the extension I was trying to use just to make the damn thing able to install Windows 10 (I used the .bin file renaming method.)

SUCKS RUINED TWO USB DRIVES

THIS SUCKS ITS STUCK AT 0% INSTALLING CHROME OS BUT ANY OTHER ISO (which doesn't work on the chromebook annoyingly) WORKS JUST FINE, ONLY CHROME OS.

Locks up, won't download, screen freezes. No clues as to why it won't work.

trying to download image on usb drive for an hour still stuck on 0%

I already tried this more than 6 or 7 times, it kept saying the same thing like "Download interrupted, please check your network connection and try again" again and again, what did I do wrong? My internet connection is perfectly fine. Update: Guys if you already tried like thousand times and still fails, there's no hope anymore. Stop what you're doing it's not worth it but you can use other website to get your file image manually, it's not direct to your USB and the file usually is up to 1gb

use rufus (dd mode)if on windows and dd if on Linux but do not use this. if you are ChromeOS just use another pc

The Chromebook Recovery Utility is racking up quite a few bad reviews in the last few weeks. There is obviously a problem with it. Google Tech Support, can you help?

Doesn't work. Clicked on Get Started, get a pop-up. Clicked on Get Started on the pop-up, and nothing happens. Why not provide a URL where folks can directly download ChromeOS Flex installer onto a USB?

Its not letting me do anything. click on Get started is as far as I got, then it stops and will not go to the next step.

Said I have a 3.6gb of space when the drive was empty even though i had 64gb. I even reformatted it

said my 8gb usb drive wasnt 8gb
