Another sell out
A personalized filter in any adblock avaliable can replace the main function of this extension, and now I have to pay 15 DOLLARS for a license ? If you can use up to 10 devices, why not offer the use by 1.5 dollars for one device?
Added subscriptions, better alternatives available for free
Why the f do I gotta pay for this now??? Use Unhook instead
Horrible. They are now making you pay for this simple app. This extension is a scam. Use alternative like Unhook.
the free tier is garbage and ain't nobody paying money for such a basic extension. also look at the developer's replies to some of the feedback lol. if you're looking for a free alternative, use unhook
Just use Unhook, 1 million plus users, reputable, and free. Forcing a subscription for basic css and javascript is ridiculous and I'll bet money on that this developer is an Indian.
so I loved using this extension but they Added subscriptions so Just wanted u guys to know their is another one the same name and the same features but it's free forever it's called (DF Tube New) NOT THIS ONE ANOTHER ONE COMLETLY just search it up
Thoroughly disappointed and shocked when it says that I have to subscribe to use this extension longer than an hour daily. I used to love this so much as it was extremely helpful in eliminating all distractions when I am doing work and want some songs playing in the background.
They made this paid to use. How disappointing.
Making this a paid app, when I'm not even sure it's their base code (the original app was abandonware IIRC) is a pathetic cash grab.
Added an arbitrary one-hour limit before it shuts off that I have to pay to remove? What benefit does that bring to users over how things worked previously? This extension only hides elements on a webpage - there are free alternatives that do the same. I would understand if it added *new* features behind a paywall, but to just break existing functionality does not make me go "Nice job! I want to give you money now!".
Added subscriptions, use alternatives
I've been using this extension for 4โ5 years, adding subscriptions is the worst idea they could have come up with.
Paid extension. You can use it for an hour a day
used to be free. now it's paid(needs a subscription for it to be active for more than one hour)
As others also said, it WAS fantastic. Now it's suddenly a paid extension. I'm out.
Used to be good. Now requires subscription to function. It is marginally better than adding a few filters to any free adblocker. There are several comparable free youtube specific blockers as well. Unhook and focustube come to mind. It's one thing to come out the gate with a very functional piece of software with a free trial version, and a paid version. But to trick a bunch of people into using your software for free only to change it to subscription model is super greasy. They could've put the code on github and had other people maintain a fork or something for free. Idk, it's gross.
You have to pay to use it for more than 1 hours at a time.
You have to pay for a subscription to make it work for more than an hour. It sucks!
No longer free, now comes with a subscription plan. What nonsense
It's honestly a little odd. This extension now requires Yearly subscription 5$ a year or 15$ for Permanent Usage. If this deal is such a steal why not put this info on the front page. And if so many people are silenly paying, as the author claims, why they care many will look for alternatives and yell at users that they are stupid for not using this state of the art extension?
This extension WAS a helpful tool for focus, but the developer has now turned it into 'paid' with time limits and paywalls. And the developer wants to criticize others for how "hard" it is. The truth: This is simple CSS/Javascript. Other extensions like Unhook have been doing this for years for over 1,000,000 users without holding their focus hostage for a subscription. Telling users to 'do it themselves' is a joke when better, free, and open-source alternatives already exist. Don't waste your time or money here. Uninstall this and get Unhook or use uBlock Origin filters. Itโs more stable, actually free, and doesn't come with a side of developer arrogance. Bye bye, DF Tube. See how they are too chicken to reply to the ones making smart points about their now-useless extension? Typical.
Paid
Changed to 1 hour usage daily or else pay. Time to look a different one/write my own.
Why was this extension changed to being paid? Total suicide, you are completely over estimating your value proposition. Who will honestly pay for this? Extension removed and moved to one of the many other providers lol. Thank you sm for my 1 hr free usage for the day ๐ฅฐ๐ฎ๐
tl;dr: Use "FocusTube: Distraction Blocker for YouTube" instead, free and better. This dev has no idea what a "freemium" monetizing model means. The 1-hour use attitude is just like the dev's comments here, he has zero respect for his free users, it feels like a rug pull. There are other ways of monetizing it, this is just weird. Nobody but this dev monetizes an anti-distraction app like this, by shoving in your face the distractions back and a notification telling you to go away basically. Distasteful, weird pricing. I'd be willing to pay for indie dev apps I use, such as X-Plore, Listen Audiobook Player, etc. But this is just a joke, end stage capitalism. Dude, instead, just pay wall new features you added, keep the core stuff that people have been using free, instead of this weirdness. It's just too easy to use something else instead.
This used to be the best extension ever because it was free (hence why all the old ratings are 5-stars). Now you have to pay, which reduces its value to zero as there are other free alternatives you can use. The developer takes criticism personally too, if you take a look at their replies (including to this very post), which should be a red flag. Stay away! :)
absolutely ridiculous that you now want ppl to pay for a basic extension that is found easily elsewhere ๐. I get you want to make money mate but this ain't the way pal ๐
It used to work perfectly, but now it requires a subscription for this very basic element-hiding script and only gives you one hour for the functionality to work. No thanks, there are better alternatives.
not free anymore
Avoid this app! This developer just rips off other people's abandoned projects and locks them behind a paywall. Google needs to ban them already. Do everyone a favor and report this!
switched up on day ones and added a subscription service, plenty of adblock scripts elsewhere so not much of a loss uninstalling. you hate to see it
Was good until they put a price on it.
it worked well until they added the shiity 1 hour then sum time up bs yeah f you its not even worth 1 dollars for a year bro
Subscription for blocking some dom elements? Nope, thank you, I'm good
They added a 1 hour limit. Previously it works forever. Now after 1 hour it asks you for money. Horrible extension, don't download it.
Even if you're going to make it a paid service, please increase the usage period.
Just doing my part by leaving a one star review for software that now charges you for the luxury of not having your harvested data used against you by big tech. Go use Unhook instead!
makes you pay if you're using youtube for more than one hour, don't use this greedy app
it used to work great, they made it so it works for an hour, you want the full package you need to pay, so im looking for a alternative
"distraction free quota" "subscription plan" i removed this so fast lol
Paid plan for no reason
They are now charging for a subscription plan. No thanks!
Permissions now say "Read your browsing history" in version 1.19.0.
Why do you need to read and change data on all websites now instead of just youtube??
They turned this into a subscription model extension like all other enshittified apps and extension
This is a seriously great extension, or rather, it was. Now that it requires roughly $5/year (or a one-time $15 payment), it's essentially useless for anyone unwilling to pay the fee. And realistically, for an extension this simple, few people will. What this extension ultimately does is some basic element hiding. That hardly justifies a paywall. Why not open-source it on GitHub and build a community of contributors around it instead? UBlock has infinitely more users, and they don't put a paywall behind it. Who do you think you are? Personally, I find the decision to monetize something this straightforward both greedy and more than a little presumptuous.
you can get it for free elsewhere
as of today it seems to trigger youtube's anti-adblock messages, so it's not usable anymore
