using this is too complicated and totally not intuitive for a user

Followed all instructions, doesn't work. Don't really understand why there isn't a setting in-app to add books from ISBN anyway

I tried to add a book from its Goodreads page like the instructions states, but it could not find information for the book. So I went to the book's Amazon page and it still could not find information for the book. Instead it found information for almost all the other books being advertised on the page except the book the product page was for. Instead of using the information from the page the user is viewing, it seems to just check its own internal database for information for the book. That defeats the purpose of using this extension because Fable's DB is not very vast. There are plenty of books that I read that I can not find in their system to add to my lists. Previously, the only way to get the book into their system was to fill out a Google Forms page. After that, there was no way to know when the book was actually added to their system so I can add it to my lists. The solution was suppose to be using this extension, but its basically useless.

Does not work most of the time. I open up book pages in amazon and goodreads, but the addon doesn't add them just look up for matches already in the data base.

Doesn't work. I'm signed in in another tab, and when I click on "Sign In" from the extension, it throws a 500 error.

The reviews make it seem like the scary part is getting it to recognise the book, thats not the real problem, there is an easy solution to that problem (refreshing the page until it works). The true nightmare is getting your account to load when you don't regularly use it on your browser. Please do yourself a favour and get that set up first before attempting this.

The ext is recognizing the book on Goodreads, but keeps prompting me to sign in on Fable even though I'm already signed in. Really frustrating.

Really glad I found a review below that showed me how to use it because I was completely lost with the absolute lack of instructions from Fable. I copied and pasted the instructions below (doing the same thing on Amazon works too, sometimes Goodreads doesn't have the ISBN number and Fable wont recognize it) So, for anyone looking for instructions on how to add a book, here’s the process: 1. First, go to the Goodreads page of the book you want to add to Fable. 2. Then, open the Fable extension. The extension will scan the Goodreads page and pull all the necessary book details. 3. Provided that you are already logged into your Fable account, you'll now be able to select the scanned book in the extension and add it to one of your Fable lists, such as "Currently Reading," "Want to Read," or any custom list you've created.

Thanks to Andjela for the detailed instructions. I would've been completely lost as no instructions were given. I'm giving it 2 stars because no instructions were given outside of downloading the chrome extension and I had to search the reviews just to get instructions on how to add the book.

Doesn't work too well for japanese books on other sides than goodreads. Also, choosing a list except the pre-made ones like "want to read" etc. does not work as they don't appear and can't be scrolled down to, or rather it appears when zooming out of the page to 75%. Other than that, very useful so far.

This worked for me 🙂 It took a few tries, but once I figured it out, it was fine. I had to use Goodreads instead of Amazon Kindle.

Wished this worked on other sites like StoryGraph and Hardcover. Hell, it hardly works on other versions of Amazon. I'm surprised it also doesn't work on Rakuten or Google Books.

It works, but there are no instructions. I had to figure this out myself. If you are on Goodreads, on the book's page, scroll down to where it says "Book details & editions". This should be directly under the summary on the book's page and in bold print. Click the arrow next to "Book details & editions" to display the ISBN of the book in question. After doing that, click on the Fable extension and it will display the information for the book so you can add it to a list if you are signed in to your Fable account. The extension will not work UNLESS you display the ISBN of the book on Goodreads FIRST. If you try to click the extension without displaying the ISBN you will get an error.

I like the extension but, as others have said, I was only able to use it because of a previous reviewers instructions. Thanks Andjela!
