Description

Safe Browser – Website Filtering Controls Manage website access in Chrome using configurable website filtering and browsing controls. Safe Browser is a browser extension that allows an account holder to manage access to websites and categories of online content. It can be used on shared devices, family devices, or personal computers to help limit access to selected websites and reduce distractions. The extension applies filtering rules to website requests made within the browser. These rules determine whether a website should be allowed or blocked based on configured settings. How Website Filtering Works When a website is requested in the browser, the extension checks the website’s domain name against filtering rules associated with the account. The filtering system may evaluate domains using: Domain classification databases that group websites into categories (such as adult content, social media, gaming, etc.) Default filtering rules provided by the service Custom allowlists/whitelist and blocklists/blacklist created by the user Account-specific filtering settings If a website matches a blocked category or appears in a blocklist, the extension may prevent access to that website within the browser. Filtering rules are applied only to web requests made through the browser where the extension is active. Free Version The free version of Safe Browser includes basic website filtering using default category rules. Default filtering rules may block access to certain website categories commonly restricted in browsing environments. These default rules are predefined and may not be customized in the free version. The free version is intended to provide basic filtering functionality using preset category-based rules. Premium Version The premium version unlocks additional configuration options that allow the account holder to customize how filtering rules are applied. Premium features may include: Custom allowlists and blocklists for specific websites or domains Ability to adjust category filtering rules Scheduled browsing access (time-based rules) Remote configuration of filtering settings through an account dashboard Premium features allow administrators to tailor browsing rules according to their preferences. Key Features Category-Based Website Filtering Restrict access to selected categories of websites using domain classification systems. Custom Website Rules (Premium) Allow or block specific websites using custom rules.(Premium) Set times when browsing access is allowed or restricted.(Premium) Password-Protected Settings Protect filtering settings from unauthorized changes. Intended Uses Safe Browser can be used in different situations, including: Managing browsing access on shared household devices Limiting access to inappropriate/distracting websites during work or study time Configuring browsing rules for family computers Supporting personal productivity and digital discipline Important Limitations Website filtering systems rely on automated domain classification and rule-based filtering. Because of this: Some websites may not be correctly categorized Newly created websites may not yet be classified Some websites may bypass filtering through technical methods Filtering applies only within the browser where the extension is active No filtering system can guarantee that all unwanted or inappropriate content will be blocked Users should periodically review their filtering settings to ensure they meet their needs. Privacy and Data Handling To apply filtering rules, the extension may process limited technical information necessary to evaluate website requests. This may include: Website domain names requested by the browser Account configuration identifiers used to apply filtering rules Device identifiers associated with the configured account This information is used solely to operate the filtering system and apply configured rules. The extension does not analyze the full content of web pages and does not read personal messages, emails, or documents. Users should review the Privacy Policy for detailed information about data handling practices. here: https://kiddoware.com/safe-browser-privacy-policy/ Transparency Statement Safe Browser provides tools that allow users to configure website filtering and browsing controls. The effectiveness of filtering depends on the accuracy of website classification systems and the configuration of filtering rules. The extension provides tools to help manage and guide online browsing, but no technology can block 100% of unwanted or inappropriate content. Users installing the extension should continue to supervise device use and discuss responsible browsing practices with the intended user of the device. Users remain responsible for determining appropriate browsing settings for their devices. Install Safe Browser to configure website filtering and browsing access rules in Chrome.

i would give negative stars if i could, it not only tried to block every other site but itself also so you couldnt even turn it off, have to force reset my laptop.

It worked okay when it first started, so I decided to pay $2.99/month for it. Regret it now. More pain than its worth because it would the filtering began to suck in the sense it was filtering everything and preventing my wife from using normal web sites like amazon, etc. Problem is that the only way to get it to work was to filter out all the default "blocked" categories. If you choose the Parental Choice option where you can turn some on/off (like Shopping for example), it would filter everything including the webpage to go back in edit your Safebrowser settings. Additionally, customer support is non existant for this. I sent many email to their online support and got zero responses. I am cancelling this service now.

Was trying out a few different "website blocker" extensions in order to make a decision on which one I wanted to use. When I tried opening the settings pages of some of the other extensions, THIS extension decided to block them! To be clear, I hadn't yet added any sites to the blocklist, changed any settings, or even created an account. I just added the extension and suddenly it was blocking legitimate webpages without me doing anything. The only reason your not getting 1 star is because I don't have proof of malicious intent, but it doesn't inspire confidence when you randomly start blocking competitors webpages before I've ever even interacted with your extension.
