OceanHero: Save Our Oceans by Surfing the Web

Very good website, and I'm always active searching stuff on it per usual. Only thing is, it has an AI chat feature. AI is obviously one of the worst things you can add to a website about SAVING the planet, as AI is destroying the planet and using up resources for a lot of it's own generation. Especially fresh water. However, you can turn this feature off completely in the settings which is a win. But it bothers me that this feature exists at all. If they start to push it, I will undownload OceanHero. (Edit: A NEW low?? It is now redirecting me to yahoo.com despite being in Chrome? I found this really weird, and it is acting like a redirect virus now. Yikes, Oceanhero. You were working so well...)

I can't figure out how to see how many bottles and I don't know if it even installed

Opera GX has notified me whilst using this extension. That it access both my google accounts, AND Linked accounts. I dont trust this due to the fact all of todays productivity is sent through E-mail and accounts LINKED to the google accounts. Therefore- Dont use this extension. Love the idea, Just generally sketchy and edgy. . .

This extension has been updated with unnecessary use of AI. AI uses 16 ounces of fresh drinkable water for server cooling every 10 interactions. So much for saving the oceans.

I could not get it to work I tried everything. I guess It just doesn't work for my computer

the idea is good but the pollution from the green house gas powered server makes it over all worse for the environment. if they make it solar powered then i am all in.

There is absolutely NO reputable third party information that this company does what they say they do. I switched to Ecosia (same idea - search engine charity but they plant trees instead) because they publish their financials and PROVE that they make the donations they say they do, and Snopes even did an investigation on them and validated their claims. This could easily be a scam and nobody would be the wiser. Use Ecosia instead

I thought that it was a great idea. But when you use it it actually never works. After you do 15 searches it stops. This leads me to believe it is fake!!!

Once you added as extension it put a virus on your search engine and i removed the extension but it still is using that instead of google which was set as my default search engine

I deleted it because it wasn't the same as normal google and it would not go away. i removed my extension but nothing happend. I like the idea of it but it wont remove. How do i remove it?? i tried doing what it said, nothing happend. I removed the extension... Again nothing happend. Please help.

well at first i liked it but then i realized no more google pretty much which means no google translate no anything that has to do with google so i deleted it then i noticed it wouldnt go away it still "being my search engine and i cant stand it i just want it to COMPLETELY go away

It was really annoying to get decent search results while using this. SInce i am a student having to do online schooling during the Coronavirus outbreak, i have to do a lot of research and the extension is really causing me to waste time. While I understand its to clean the ocean, I've read reviews and looked into OceanHero and they both say its a scam and the have no proof that hey even donate their profits towards their intended purpose. I think its a scam and so do other user. Prove me wrong.

i think it should pick up bottles any way they only say they will pick bottles and they probaly do it for money couse you should pick up bottles every day

Guys, why are you redirecting my searches to google, how can I save the planet now???

It was working really well before, but then it broke down. It said to reinstall it, and i did, but now, everytime my mouse hovers over anything the screen shakes.

the search engine is great, but every time i have to uninstall it (because it breaks) i cant recover my account. it sucks and i cant log in from these idiots

look, i really want to help sav the ocean but ocean hero has literally ruined my life

its a good idea but I've searched stuff up and the counter doesn't change. i think mine is just broken but still some things that you could improve is that it shouldn't be every 5 searches. but else great idea :)

it seems fake

I really love this extension, but the recent update has broken it. My whole window says just the name, the search bar, and the background is all black with nothing else. I can't even see the bottle amount or anything. Please fix it!!!

I think its a great concept but im not sure if it can be trusted.

Great idea, and I use it all the time. A few problems though. 1) There is no MS Edge version, so I need to install the chrome version on my edge browser. 2) When Duckduckgo is installed it overrides Oceanhero as the default. There is no way to have both Duckduckgo installed (to block trackers) and Oceanhero (to search via the address bar <<Specifically). When both are installed and you do a search in the address bar, Duckduckgo results show up, not Oceanheros. PLEASE COME UP WITH A SOLUTION OCEAN HERO!

I just don't understand. They say they clean out one bottle from the ocean "every five searches" I make... If they have the ability to do that, why only do it if we use this extension? If it were me I would clean the ocean just out of pure humanity.. I don't know, tell me if I'm wrong, and please explain why. I just don't know what this is doing to help the ocean.

When i search up something, it shows WAY TO MUCH ADS. i get mixed up a lot and i dont like it. They should put the ads at the bottom of the page. They should also add pictures of popular people like google

ima keep it simple wish 100% of profits were used for ocean pretty similar to google search engine you can choose your own photos do good without having to actually pay attention to it

I love the fact that people are caring for the ocean with all the pollution in the ocean but this extension was very annoying because when i search something it is very slow and not really helpful so i use google on my phone sometimes

ok so this is more of a question, should I use ecosia or this both are helping just in different ways, any thoughts?

i like that it helps but now when i search stuff up you know the top result sometimes opens a menu full of text (example: a list of the best countries it will show a list) it does not do that anymore

Is this a scam?

When you press the refresh button, it counts it as 1 plastic piece picked up, even if the thing you searched has no results. This team cleans the ocean by getting money from search ads, but if it has no results, and counts it as helping pick up plastic, is this fake or not?

I like the fact that it helps clean trash out the ocean. I don't like it much because it is very. very. slow.

Great concept and execution, however, they only use 50% of their profit to help I would prefer it if they would be more generous with their cut that they utilize for charitable purposes. Potentially in the future they could make it entirely non-profit. I still use it, and it works just as well as google for search engine purposes. I really appreciate the plastic counter!
