Open in VLC™ media player

Not working.

3 HOURS WASTED AND I AM NOT SURE WHY I DID NOT GIVE UP SOONER I MUST BE CRAZY WHEN MY GRANDSON GETS OUT OF MIT I WILL ASK HIM TO SEE IF HE CAN GET IT TO WORK FOR NOW I WILL NOT LIVE LONG ENOUGH TO GET THE INFORMATION TECH Phd. I want to us it with the Open Source Web Interface for Linux set-top box (Vu+ Ultimo4K receiver) Its certainly not working as it is on Firefox. There by clicking the stream icon it's opening VLC and plays the stream. With Chrome you can only save the stream link. (Window 11)

What the hell just happened?!?!? Before this morning I could open up multiple video streams, now it will only open one stream at a time. If I happen to have a video stream already playing in the vlc media player in try to send another video stream to the vlc player using the extension, it plays over the current video stream already playing. Use to be able to play multiple video streams at once. As of this morning it will only open and play one video stream at at time. What happened overnight?!?!? I did not tweak any of the settings in my vlc player or the extension. Why is it now only allowing one video stream to play at a time?!?!?

Sucks big time. Made my chromebook useless for playing video. It seems to have replaced the functioning video player on Chromebook and plays nothing correctly. I tried uninstalling it to reinstall to see if it was an installation problem or I could use the prior video player and it is now uninstallable.

Foreign file needed to be downloaded and installed in order to use.. Possible virus.

Needs some extra node.js extension that is hard to find, on a page with ads, hard to install and has confusing instructions and links to all sorts of irrelevant places. Is launching the regular VLC player in this way worth it?

the extension didnt work for me on Firefox, googlechrome or edge. i had to download the program to my PC

All the reveiws complaining that it doesn't work on chrome os are silly. The real issue is that the quality of the video is lower in vlc with the extention then it is normally (at least with the youtube video I tested) so unless you're really short on time and/or storage space and really love vlc then your probably better off using the sites native video player or downloading the video and running it in normal vlc.
