needs fixing
i did all things correct ,uploaded required files such as css and images plus java scripts , and it show the page correct on google but when i go to publish it to Editey website, it gives an error , i tried it many times , don't know what is messing! and one thing also its slow as hell , better to use offline web editor than this.
Definitely NOT happy about how it requests permissions more than once. It already got the first part. DO NOT GIVE PERMISSIONS.
I'm going to keep trying to make this work for me, but so far not easy to use. It's slow to open. File management is not clear. too many server errors. Sure it can be great some day, but today it just made my life harder.
Did not work for me, images did not appear, did not like the edit layout.
It does not work. It is very sloppy. I hated it
This really sucked. I happened to double click on one of the code files in my Google drive and it offers to let me use an editor which then requires all sorts of intrusive permissions, like access to my friends list. Spamware. Now I'm getting emails and a request to review this app which I have no intention of using. Really irritated that Google let you integrate this into my drive.
Not working! Internal Server Error!
Useless.
Installs by default, doesn't bother to check if you AREN'T using Chrome which I don't. Ends up 'broken' and doesn't work. no logs, nothing to help troubleshoot.
You literally emailed me hassling me to review your app before I had even started using it.
bad bad bad
This seemed like such a GREAT idea. Functionality was something I had been looking for for ages so jumped onboard. Unfortunately FAILED to edit a SINGLE file. I tried all my HTML, CSS and JS files but everyone one of them I received errors such as Error: Server Error and another referring to Document. After a week of trying every day and geting the same results despite testing for 30 minutes a day I give up. This disaapointed and frustrated review is the final result. Hope you guys pick up and I read reviews saying you've resolved the issues. Will happily try again at that point and if working well, pony up for a premium version.
Error: Server Error The server encountered an error and could not complete your request. Please try again in 30 seconds.
I could never use this or any other editey app. I receive an error on all my devices "Error: Server Error The server encountered an error and could not complete your request. Please try again in 30 seconds."
I found it completely non-intuitive, and gave up after about 1/2 hour of trying to figure it out. I ended up with a competitor, HTML Editor for Google Drive.
The multi-line typing glitches out and mixes up the characters. Complete nightmare. Due to this horrid issue, white space within code actually affects the outcome of the website. I bet the devs wouldn't even use their PoS
The idea is good, the execution rather meagre. - Documentation and help is practically non-existent (or well hidden) - You cannot add existing files to a project. You can add new files through the Editey UI, but it seems you cannot move them around to suite your own project folder setup. - The preview is slow and has to be refreshed manually. Hence, my quest for a nice drive-integrated web IDE continues...
1) You need to give it a lot of permissions... more than I like I would say. Why does it need to change your API? Why does it need to send email for you? 2) It is an HTML TEXT editor, which means that if you are looking for WYSIWYG, forget about it. Yes, there are templates to copy... but if you do not look at the video you would never guess. Then after you work the template you still need to edit the code. This is be a good tools in the right hand but it is definitely not design for the common crowd.
In theory this app may be OK, but it is incredibly slow! Any time saved using the app is lost waiting for things to load. Not happy.
There is no tutorial of how to use program. I have no idea how to edit anything and I don't even know what the software is for.
Need to make the files connect much easier. Make everything easier to navigate because it's too confusing. Can't tell where I am half the time. Also, some bugs need to be dealt with. Like when I'm editing a file and in the code it just randomly scrambles everything on the person that you're sharing it with side. I've seen it because I was sitting next to them. This plus a slew of other errors that this program has. It sucks.
Missing PHP
The preview doesn't use the google drive hosting URL so relative paths to style sheets don't work. Links are also disabled in the preview. This made it more confusing to beginners.
Back to ShiftEdit. Editey has delivered a substandard experience for me.
linked CSS files are not processed. Site is displayed without styles...
My only complaint is that the code stored in an Editey document is not searchable within Google Drive. I cannot search for a string of code in Drive & get the Editey file in the search results. Because of this, Editey & Google Drive just doesn't help me as a cloud storage solution for code. Bummer, as I had high hopes. :)
What the hell's wrong with this app? I connected this app cuz I thought be great being able to see code I'm editing and live preview that sits next to it, but now the Live Preview thing disappears and I can't get it back. I've no idea what to even do... tried creating a new Editity HTML file and just gives me Internal Server Error 500, it's acting like I haven't even authorized the app at all, none of the menus let me change to view a Live Preview, nothing?? what gives.... I might as well just throw this app away because it's not working as it should be. I could try removing it and trying again but what good will that do? Publish to Web options aren't even available either cuz they too have disappeared from the interface magically for some reason.
Looks good, but does not support so much things. I would need Jade, Stylus and CoffeeScript support.
The software is great. it does exactly what I need and I wouldn't recommend it more, except for one problem. Now to use the software at all you have to purchase a license. I would give it less than 3 stars but it works for what you need. Thanks a lot for destroying the only website editor on google drive.
Hooray! Edit And View Any DocType Lang - Edit With Editey.
SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! SLOW! SLOW!
It works perfectly. What sucks is that you cant create a black document. You would have to go to Google Drive make a doc or something then go into the app and open it. THAT'S THE ONLY PROBLEM. BTW it gives you lots of samples to start with.
It was okay, not bad. File integration can be a little weird and several times my files wouldn't update. The accessibility and previewer window were phenomenal and having the widow update after every change made those minute pixel changes much easier. Unfortunately some of the promised features simply don't work. The multi-line typing gliches out and mixes up the characters. The highlight and scroll works well, but good luck getting it to change those lines in a few keystrokes. Finally it really needs a more easily accessible search function. Just gross. Overall great to start, but if you're doing any big projects use something else.
I thought it was pretty good but it had glitches so I just went back to codecademy. The is the program can't (somtimes) figure what your doing so it just guesses wrong things and messes up your code so yeah its a litte annoying.
Works well as a way to do some quick edits, and backup in the cloud, but I'd like to be able to share the files so a group could work on a file, and there should be some type of version control built in so you can always recover past versions of a file. But just the sharing thing would be most important--you can do that with google docs, so I don't know why it doesn't work with this since they claim 'full integration into the google docs ecosystem'. If they add these features it's a real winner.
useful but i need live changes in website what i have change in html coding.
My primary use was for editing XML files and I liked it. But once it started asking for additional permissions for access to all sorts of things that didn't seem to have anything to do with editing an XML file, I asked the author why, and got no response (but have gotten a lot of e-mail advertising). I deleted it and found something I like better: the app <txt>
It would be nice if some of the JavaScript functions like setInterval and setTimeout worked. This could be implemented by a setting that allows you to control the viewers refresh rate/call it to refresh. If this is implemented i would be very happy. Also it would be nice if there was a way to link different file types such as .js and .htm so that you could download them as a package (ex. several files downloaded as a zip file). thank you.
It worked wonderfully, but then became glitchy.
Very nice tool for quick edit web files on the fly. Avoid the installation of huge apps for small changes. Would appreciate a preview with CSS styles applied. Great for small, quick changes.
It's very useful but it's quite slow to start, it does not always save everything (even though it said it did) and it has some big issues when cutting and pasting large blocks. Otherwise, the company is regularly emailing users to ask for a review which quickly gets annoying. Still good as it allows to edit HTML files from your drive seamlessly and provides a real-time preview (which doesn't update sometimes though).
Problems with the latest W3C specifications...
I guess it is still in development but it would actually be nice and super cool if google offered their own hosting service. Because with the way google docs is already built, it doesn't make sense why we can't just put up a HTML page and open it like a normal website.
