Iridium for YouTube

This seems like a really nice with a lot of great features. Unfortunately a lot of things are broken, and it hasn't been updated since 2024 (at the time of writing this) so it's effectively abandonware.

i was wondering, why i used this extension in the first place 2-3 years ago?.. must have been some features.. after reading comments, i probably know, because of "reverse playlist" feature and something else, i'm sure. stopped using it then. what can i say now? useless extension that gives you nothing. you can tell this just by the look at features list. why even release it, there is nothing usefull at all anymore..

Broken extension

Stops the video after 20 seconds

where the hell is playlist reverse button? It was my main use for this thing, now it's completely broken; it slows down buffering up to 20 times (less than) normal, quality enforcer takes 2 minutes to cycle through all available resolutions; blacklist doesn't work; changing default options breaks the entire app

Videos will play for exactly 19 seconds and start buffering forever. Started happening somewhere in February. Do not use this extension until devs address and fix this issue!!!

This extension make videos load far slower

This extension worked for a while with no issues but for the last few months now, videos no longer play longer than 20 seconds with this extension. Even turning all settings off or resetting it to default does not fix it. Turning off the extension fixes the video playing and able to load the video but when the extension is turned back on, it breaks.

Update: Sigh. Iridium is causing a miniplayer to pop out when I scroll down and hit reply to a video. I tested it 20 times and iridium is the cause. It has a setting 'always visible' (stupid setting name). 'Changes into an always visible mini player when less than half of the video is visible, can be moved using right mouse button'. I can move this popout miniplayer with my right mouse button, so iridium is definitely the cause. I have this disabled though and it still appears, so the setting switch doesn't even work. Ffs. It also has 2 settings for video focus. "Fade out the webpage while the video is playing". Video focus with a switch next to it, and at the bottom the same exact setting with switch next to it. This extension has been here for years, how is this overlooked? Was annoyed af because I had the setting off right? Then later realize there's another one I have to switch off that's verbatim to the other one. Maybe now I'll remember now to bother with this extension again. It's a shame because this is the only thing that disables autoplay correctly, but guess I'll have to keep searching for that as I'm not dealing with some stupid miniplayer with a stupid setting that doesn't function properly. Update: Well, tried this 4 years later and the disable autoplay works. After trying about 20 extensions and scripts and this one works, so I'm happy with that. 1 to 5 stars. Doesn't work. Enabled? Youtube video won't play, just buffers. Disable, video works. Re-enable, video won't play. Waste of time. Also, the 'find out what this does' isn't even complete. For a majority of the settings there's no reference.

Reverse playlist not working anymore

Mostly broken. The only feature that seems to be working is showing the video on scroll... Everything else doesn't work or makes youtube throw an error... Shame

Installed it primarily for the ability to reverse the order of playlists (everything else would be bonus features) since some channels set them in order of newest-to-oldest and manually remaking them in oldest-to-newest is tedious. This was specifically mentioned as a feature offered by this extension, but I couldn't find it anywhere after installing it. Also, I couldn't get videos to play. Breaking YouTube while it's installed is kind of a deal-breaker.

Awful. Nothing works. The autoplay stopper can't be used because it stops the video from playing altogether. The scroll for volume doesn't work. Nothing. Works.

I should say... loved it. But it's broken. Video buffer wheel just goes and goes... this extension broke for me around April 2nd, out of NOWHERE. So if you're confused... yup, this extension is dead and no longer supported.

Doesn't work at all. Can't play any videos. People have been saying it'll be fixed since 2019 and that hasn't happened. The app is dead. Don't bother downloading it

its 2021 and the youtube videos still wont play- you have to refresh.

Extension is now Firefox only and has broken after the recent YouTube update. Autoplay is broken and throws "An error occurred" message causing you to refresh the page each time. It would have been nice not having to go to GitHub, dig through closed bug reports to find that the project was abandoned. Devs don't have time, I won't deny that, but I'm sure one can find 5 minutes to update the chrome web store description.

Dev doesn't support chrome

Youtube has changed something in their script which causes videos to not play when using this extension. The developer of this extension has abandoned the Chrome Version of this plugin and is hostile to those who submit bug reports on their Github.

Doesn't work anymore, every video crashes saying "something went wrong" and user needs to reload the page for the video to load. There hasn't been an update for over a year. Look for something else, this one is completely abandoned.

Downloaded for the reverse playlist option, couldn't find the reverse playlist button literally anywhere on the page, and the extension also manages to break the youtube player half the time.

Reverse Playlist not Working too

It enables a multitude of unwanted features and asks for a donation right away, while the only feature that I installed this extension for isn't even working. The help button refers to a non-existing page on GitHub and even though I managed to find the correct page eventually, it didn't help in any way. I'm giving it the lowest rate because of the reverse playlist feature not working whatsoever and for the extension itself being inexcusably intrusive.

No longer supported on Chrome.

Author has moved to development on Firefox, this extension now only causes problems on Chrome because it's not receiving updates.

Came back to see if there have been any updates but seems like it was completely abandoned. Used to be great before it broke, videos just don't play with it on.

Reverse Playlist not Working

DOESNT WORK - youtube videos simply WILL NOT play with this plug-in enabled, regardless of what settings are used. You fix that and then I can give it a proper test and review.

Got it only to reverse playlists. That feature doesn't work. It isn't even there.

A whole lot of weird unnecessary options are active out of the box - like hiding comments section, killing autoplay, and making icons square. And worst of all, it isn't doing the one thing I installed it for - it does not reverse playlists, it does not even spawn a button for it. A weird broken extension made to suit its' creator's weird taste.

Was a great extension, but now it basically just stops any video from playing if it's enabled.

No longer works, it broke youtube, videos are unable to play and there is no update nor communication from the author.

Tried it specifically for the blacklist functionality... hitting the "edit" button to add names to the list brings up a blank box that I couldn't type in. "Import" allowed me to type things in, but gave me a syntax error when I tried to save the changes. In short, I couldn't use the only feature I actually wanted. Googled for similar issues, but the only results I found were supposedly fixed or the user tried something different that didn't work for me. Since development appears to be on hold, I'm uninstalling.

Video doesn't play in popup window.

what is going on with iridium?? it was a great software now it stops videos from buffering. they have also removed the feature to still watch videos while moving pages, and then there was a glitch later where the audio kept playing. then they removed it. now i can't buffer videos? i'm sorry iridium, this is unacceptable.
