It doesn't work. My chrome browser keeps getting changed into a yahoo search regardless of having this add on :(

WARNING! THE EXTENSION HAS MALWARE!! The extension has recently added malware that makes a browser redirect when you search google, and redirects you to an identical-looking page, that has another domain name... you can see this yourself, by doing the following: 1) add extension 2) use ctrl+k to search google in the omnibar, enter search term and hit "enter" 3) the google search loads. Go to a another tab. now go back to the tab with the google search. now the page has reloaded with another domain name than google.

It does nothing. I thought the developer comments and the recent update meant otherwise, but yeah, still nothing.

Alas, this extension stopped working. Not sure as of which version of Google Chrome when it became ineffective. I was doing some maintenance, checked the search engines list, and there were many entries for sites that I had previously visited and used their search that were now listed in Google Chrome's search engine list -- all the while using this extension. I edited the search engine list to remove the unwanted entries (those that covertly add themselves to Google Chrome), revisited the sites, did a search there, and this extension did absolutely NOTHING to block those sites from adding their search URLs to the search engines list in Google Chrome. Example sites that add to the custom search engines list are: aol.com, yahoo.com, bing.com, ask.com, fleetfarm.com, gasbuddy.com, menards.com, 800notes.com, amazon.zom, bestbuy.com, ebay, and newegg.com. It is easy to spot the covert search engine additions when looking at the search engine list: they don't have a keyword assigned. Uninstalling and reinstalling this extension does not get it working. It might even show a number overlay on its toolbar icon as though it blocked the custom search addition but, nope, it didn't block anything. It has not been updated in over a year and a half. It's become useless and the author has abandoned this extension so it will not get updated to start working again (assuming however this extension worked before is still a viable method in the latest versions of Google Chrome).

Unfortunately, this extension doesn't work at all. I can't believe Google doesn't give users the option to disable this unwanted behavior!

Worked initially, not it stopped. Test: cnn.com The one reason for me to stick on with this stupid browser is also gone...sigh back to FF soon. Love this 'do no evil' attitude of theirs.

Great idea, but it's not working for me in the latest version of Chrome. Search engines are still being added.

While some custom searches are certainly being blocked, a list is still accumulating in Chrome's Settings. I posted a suggestion that the developer provide some kind of blacklist for sites we find are still being added to Settings. (Of course, I don't know if such an option is even possible.) If something like that happens or the developer finds another way to block the custom searches that are still getting through, I will joyfully amend my rating. Update: I now have over sixty useless and unwanted "search engines" in my Chrome settings, so, obviously, this extension does next to nothing. (I've lowered my rating from "okay" to "disliked".)

I'd love an update since Yahoo! keeps hijacking my search engine. Thank you.

It blocks a number of sites but still a fair number of sites add their search engines.
