Does not censor all words, not even the f word. Useless extension
I can tell you this - that it doesn't filter the "f" word when I watch a film on acorn.tv on my PC. (And I have tried all I can to make sure that I have the settings right so it should filter it.)
It works on the captions, but I've been changing the settings for about an hour trying to figure out how to make it actually remove the audio, and nothing works.
Does not "bleep" swearing, which I'd rather prefer over muting. If anyone can link me to the extension that bleeps swearing, I would be grateful.
I cant get it to work i put in the settings and when I try to turn it on from the extension button the mouse doesnt even work it shows an x over it- it wont let me click anything on it it only seems to allow me to turn it on, on youtube and even then when i played a song with a swear word it didnt block it out Im pretty sure i put in all the settings right also is there a way for this extension to block swear words in spotify if so how do I do it?
waste app, waste tons of code if block only loaded text ..... peoples need block own what write lmao
On Netflix, for audio, it bleeps out entire sentences instead of just the word. Disappointing.
I find it annoying when the censor beep lasts longer than necessary. For example, on YouTube, if captions are enabled and there’s a swear word in a sentence, the entire caption line gets muted instead of just the single word. Is there a way to fix that?
I use to really, really love this app. It worked like a charm even on major streaming outlets like paramount plus. However, I recently got a new computer with windows 11 and now it doesn't work at all.
I cant figure out what to do with this! it has so many settings without explaining what to do! I couldn't find a tutorial or anything that helped. I found things that explained what they do but it doesn't connect the dots on how to do it. Its like I have to hire a programmer to figure it out! tooooooo complicated!!!!!!!
I can't get this working. I mean, it edits the subtitles but doesn't mute the bad language on Netflix.
Unfortunately it's a bit too simple. Instead of just text on a page, it will actually filter the HTML SOURCE! Twitter was messed up, until I realised it had changed the parts of the HTML source to read along the lines of '<p cl***="top-section">'! Also does not work with dynamically updating pages like chat clients. I'm sure it's great for those with super simple needs, but it's not for me.
It has worked pretty well, but the last few days it hasn't worked at all on Amazon (not even hiding the captions). I suspect Amazon changed how captioning is rendered in a way that broke the current version of the extension, since the captioning options do look different. Posting this just to ensure the developers are aware so they can be working on a fix.
Not perfect but the best one I could find for YouTube. Using autogenerated captions means it only picks up on the swear halfway through them saying it, which in my opinion defeats the purpose. Captions the creator made themselves: for some reason the whole sentence gets muted, so a couple words before and after, which is distracting and annoying, as I have to look at the captions to understand what is being said
So I was wondering what I am doing wrong? The YouTube video I played had 3 words of profanity and it didn't catch even one of them. Thanks for any help.
Ok so I would've loved for this to work however I think youtube wont let you see bad word captions anymore so it messed it up but if it would've it would have been great!
Meh, is my first response because what I want to use it for, filtering kindle books in my android kindle fire is nowhere in any FAQ or how to use manual. If there is way to use it with an ebook reader, I would love to know. If there is, I'll but the app, but if not, for me it is a waste of time, money and effort.
I added Netflix to the list of sites where the muting requiring the subtitles to be shown failed. I added Netflix to the sites that should be filtered. I think Netflix updated or I was missing something.
I like this Profanity filter a lot, but unfortunately it only works on Netflix..I've tried using this on YouTube,Disney, Paramount, and so much more and it doesn't work. Which is so frustrating because I want to watch movies with my Mom and siblings. Please help and fix this issue.
Partially useful, but constantly have to reset it - don't know why.
Doesn't seem to work on amazon video.
It's a good extension to use, probably the best one out there! The only problem is that it deactivates after a while and I had to reinstall it.
I tried every setting but it mutes out the entire sentence instead of just the word. is there any way to fix this?
Works okay, however: 1) You cannot have the extension "whitelist only". That is, you can't have the default be disabled, and only enable it on specific sites (such as only on the websites you'd help your kids visit). 2) The audio mute function is based only on currently-visible subtitle text. If the subtitles are even a little delayed from the actual speech (it often is), then you'll hear the start of the word before it's muted. Also: 3) Audio mute only works if you have subtitles displayed. 4) I tried adding a "custom mute selector" that uses the transcript panel on YouTube to mute words before they're reached. My attempt was: { "www.youtube.com": { "className": "ytd-transcript-body-renderer active", "mode": "element", "tagName": "DIV" } } But it doesn't work since the audio-mute's mutation observer only checks for *added* nodes (rather than nodes whose class is changed), so my selector isn't checked against the transcript lines when it needs to be (when they are activated, or the line after the active one). In the meantime, you could try this other extension which is able to mute words even before the subtitle text is reached: https://github.com/RobotCopy/Adieu-Profanity-Filters That alternative extension used to work well, however recently it seems to be unreliable due to changes in YouTube, meaning neither extension works that well atm. Oh well. (I'm a web developer so may build a new extension that works reliably on YouTube, without subtitles visible, but don't have the time atm.)
