0 Stars. I cannot get rid of the extension to take a needed test. If you want to have an extension permanently on your computer this is the one that does NOT leave.

The extension is grey and not informing me of any new emails or identifying the number of unopened emails. What's happening?

I don't need to know how many I have unread, which is currently 20,342.....I need to know when new ones arrive.

Same as what others are saying. It's been broke for at least a week at this point

I've used this forever and now it doesn't work! And it seems that no one at google cares to solve the problem.

The extension is showing the unread but when you click on the icon it wont open gmail

wth.. Mail stopped working

If you have multiple windows open, and one of them has a tab open to Google Mail, the extension will no longer open a new Mail tab in the current window.

WAS great. Stopped working today. What's going on Google?

Mine is displaying correctly every time message(s) arrive, but when there are currently no messages the toolbar badge incorrectly displays a greyed-out "M" with a greyed-out "?" in the number square.

Stopped working for me as well google paid way too much for this laziness.

Good idea. Poor execution. I find it really sad that of the plugins I regularly use the one actually from Google and is fairly simplistic compared to the others is the buggiest.

Stopped working with the last chrome update

This extension hasn't updated the unread amount for the last five to sixth months without disabling and reenabling the extension. Another product killed by Google?

Used to be a great extension. Then it stopped working.

doesnt work

Used to be great, but now this extension stops working several times a day. Restarting the browser or disabling/reenabling the extension fixes the problem temporarily. It's a bad look for Google that their own extension for their own email service on their own browser doesn't work correctly.

I HATE YAHOO, so much its blocked 5 ways on all of of web browsers, but this app is for some reason forced it for my search engine I'm tempted to fully drop google and go brave, give my phone to a hobo tell him to abuse it however he wants. This is an app for and by google but forces their enquired daughter company on others even if we're fine with google the parent after all.

Stopped working. No longer opens gmail.

Used to work great, but just like the Google Voice plugin, has stopped working. No longer correctly displays the number of unread emails and no longer works as a shortcut to open Gmail.

As usual google made good product that became unusable now.

Since installing this into a clean Chrome browser installation it fails to open my GMail account, but instead sends me to its own App page. The permissions set for the app do not remain stable, which appears to be the cause of this behaviour. The Dev's need to pull their socks up and either fix this by keeping pace with browser updates, or discontinue offering people this piece of rubbish.

Stopped working randomly. Fix: restart chrome or deactivate > activate plugin. Repeat at least once a day :(

Won't open new gmail tab when clicking on the icon.

I don't know who decided it was a good idea to make the notification number color as black. It's literally impossible to read since it's red on black. There's a reason why stop signs are red/white and not red/black. If you're a developer reading this, your extension is great but please change your color back.

The email no longer opens in html view. Garbage now. The page always give me a popup when I try to close it and doesn't clear the notification when I delete emails

everything I have is google and none of it works right. This checker is not timely with notifications, but also when I read and delete an email in gmail it is often there again as a new email. So maybe its gmail, or the chromeOS, or the checker,..... Its all google and works like garbage together.

Was a great extension but Google is now flagging it and it is causing critical alert messages and account locks, hence 1 star rating. Disabled and to be removed if not fixed. 5 Star if fixed.
