Russian Spyware trash
It's a TRIAL with Monthly Payment options even if its competitors are usually Free or One-Time purchase. Half of options become closed after your never announced Trial Period ends. Pretty indecent selling gimmick and against consumer rights for not informing them properly.
Maybe you should be more transparent with your users and disclose that this is shareware, fully functional up to a couple of days, after which you'll need to subscribe (yeah, you've read that right) to use all the options. I get development time should be compensated, but this is absurd. It's a post-processing extension, not exactly essential.
Would have rated 5 star if they didn't paywall gamma. Greed will be your undoing.
Makes you believe the Gamma control is free, but it's only free once. Then you have to pay to have that "supposedly free" control back.
terrible video performance. causes stuttering and dropped frames. also slows speed (despite setting speed to 1; I can tell it's in addition to dropped frames because audio is also slowed); doesn't allow speed to be controlled by other means.
So far great I need something to sharpen all videos AND remember setting will this do that??. I think this will. Nothing else out there does this, plus many more settings..Thank you UPDATE 5 days after install, it want $3 month for sharpness, no go , using magic actions free. Today requires to pay $36 year for options very disappointing, no sharpness setting.
if this supposed to work I have bad news, its not, in any player on sites where videos are playable. Video Color Enhancer ext do the job, this not.
A one off payment maybe but im not paying a subscription for gamma and sharpness. Found a way around it instead..
installed this for the gamma function and apparently thats behind paywall. thats unfortunate, would have give 5 star if thats available.
good. all browsers should come with these settings built in standard. Edit: changed from 5 stars to 1. Starts asking to pay $3 per month for gamma, sharpness control, etc... I could swallow a one time fee, but $3 per month in perpetuity - no thanks. skip.
the extension used to be the best of all time but without gamma there is no point to using it practically at all
only useful features are behind paywall, after a few days
Keeps redirecting to russian IP. DO NOT INSTALL
Useless junk. UI is clattered, small and imprecise. Half of options are nonsense effects that no one will ever use. And it's slow. And it automatically reloaded all my youtube tabs in every chrome window, almost hanged the browser. Removed it after 5 seconds look at the main controls window. Why this extension have 5 stars? Why does it ever exist?
It used to work perfectly and was my favourite extension. The newer version drops frames and the video becomes laggy and jittery. I absolutely don't mind paying, but you need to fix this issue.
Impressive Concept, Disappointing Pricing Model The concept behind this extension is fantastic, but the developer's pricing approach is off-putting. Charging $36 annually feels excessive. I would much prefer a one-time payment option instead of being locked into yet another subscription.
after few days of everything is free to use he decided to lock many options and made them pay to use he had donate button but now it is just pay to use + donate. Donate for what? for locking the best options.. avoid this or you will only have contrast, brightness or some stupid options like that sharpness is locked now i have no money to pay so i reduced from 5 to 1 star.
Worthless unless you spend £2 a month. It will work for a while, then Sharpness and Gamma options are grayed out and your video playback speed is set to 90%. Not worth your time unfortunately, despite how well it does work for a while. I'm not paying £24 a year to make youtube a little sharper, at least make it a one off payment. If you re-install the plugin your features will be restored by the way, this works on version 9.0, incase the developer updates it to prevent this somehow.
most of the features are paid while also asking for donations!
It does not do anything on YouTube.
Trial.
After a while it locks features behind a pay wall and it randomly makes your video play slower randomly.
This plugin is actually an excellent tool that performs flawlessly, but I am leaving a negative review because of the sudden subscription paywall. While I don't mind paying for stuff and understand understand the necessity of monetizing one’s work, it was done without prior warning and there’s also currently no mention on the page about the new payment requirement. In today’s digital age, it seems like every minor convenience requires a subscription fee. While I don’t mind supporting developers for their hard work, the cumulative cost of numerous small subscriptions can become burdensome. This is especially true when these subscriptions are for essential, more some than others. It becomes a game of management on what I pay for and what I don't pay for. This is also excluding the expenses of simply being alive. In this context, a $2 monthly fee for this plugin feels steep. I would prefer a one-time payment option, even if it were at a higher cost. For instance, I’d be willing to pay $20 to ensure the extension works for several years rather than $2 per month. Regardless, the sudden switch just made me simply install a older version before the paywall was introduced and I think I'll just keep it like that until it stops being compatible. While I am understanding, I am a bit disappointed.
Used to be free and great, now not anymore
paywall
for free and now all of a sudden thrown behind a paywall
Booo, first they gave all otpions and then blocked some behind paywall. Deleting rn, bye.
Still using 8.9.0 with all features, somehow it wont update to 9.0.0 with paywall offline install works.
I would have given this a 4 star rating but the extension updated and I was then inundated by Malwarebytes blocking a specific outgoing attempt to contact an ip labeled as "malware". After investigating it was a Russian ip tied to this particular extension. So 4 stars is now 1 star and this extension is now gone from my system.
Annoying overlays
Even after removing from chrome it still show the red bar in my videos, including Movies and TVs application from windows. Fishy application, do not install.
bunch of criminals. the video stops immediately after installing
This extension is using a CryptoMiner, I have reported this to Google.
What's with the Weebly pop-up on every website when this add-on is enabled?
Was great until they paywalled gamma...
I'm sorry man but I have tried this multiple times over the year and it causes any video's FPS to drop through the floor. I haven't had the issue with Video Styler. I'm giving 2 stars because I can see it increases the brightness so it works in that regard but nothing I do can get it to not tank the framerate.
I used this addon about a year ago, it worked well. Meanwhile it became paid, the gamma is not settable anymore without paying. It costs $3 per month. (It is totally overpriced, I pay less for my car insurance which I use every day... I hope it will be free again, this price is ridiculous.)
was good, now precise search in youtube doesn't work correctly. it jumps allover the place. fix it or I'm done paying its so annoying
the video becomes laggy
A subscription for an extension? Boo! A once off donation is reasonable but a recurring cost? Tsk.
While it has a lot of functions when you first install it, most of the functions become locked after a few days and - worst of all - it forces all videos to play at 0.9x, until you pay a subscription. There's nothing wrong with charging money for certain functions, but this was not made clear anywhere on the page, which is extremely misleading. If it's a time-limited free trial, make that clear upfront. Try using another extension called "Video Styler (brightness and more)", it doesn't limit access to functions without warning after a few days like this extension does.
It used to be perfect until you started charging a price for half the functions.
BUG AFTER USING FEW TIMESS- OPTION OF GAMA CONTROL GREYS OUT , AND CAN'T BE USED. IF THIS WORKS THIS EXTENSION IS GOOD,
please fix the bug___ recently there is major issue-- every now and then gamma feature gets grayed out -- and so extention becomes useless- if this feature works --reset everything is best
Nice extension but popping up the author's advert page every time I start Chrome is annoying.
It was fine, but now it's started popping up the author's advert page everytime I start Chrome. I've blocked that page in the Windows hosts file, but it's annoying to have had it appear more than once.
Damn good features but videos drop frames, had potential.
I really like this, but 1 minor issue and 1 major issue. Minor: Would be nice to have hotkeys assigned to modify gamma/speed as they are the ones most used. Major: Screwed up my usage of JIRA. Can't click on some links to change the status of a ticket, can't go into a PR, just overall JIRA functionality randomly fails. I don't know if this is limited to JIRA, but that this affects one website improperly, could be an indication that it could screw up others. I would give this at least a 4 star review if it didn't screw up the functionality of websites.
This is a powerful extension to boost the appearance of any graphics and media viewed in Chrome. It works very much as advertised but I am only giving it 2 stars because despite uninstalling the extension and clearing cache/date from Chrome, removing it causes issues with full screen video content thereafter. I even factory reset my Chromebook but when trying to view full screen video on say Youtube, the picture is totally distorted. Ony by installing this extension again does the problem go away. So I am stuck with it permanently. Even now I have to turn the extension on and off occasionally to view full screen content.
