The extension is unreliable and inconsistent. It is embarassing that Active Campaign does not invest more in improving this extension. In general our experience with AC (and particularly with Wildmail, the official reseller in Spain) has been horrible. We had a lot of technical errors with AC CRM and we cannot manage to send emails from CRM nor to do automatizations based on read emails or replied to emails, so it was impossible to use the pipeline. The AC/Wildmail support answer is always the same: work from incognito and deactivate all extensions and antivirus, which is ridiculous. And even when doing so it doesn´t work. In itself, the AC extension has been the only thing that allowed us to use a bit of the functionalities of the Active Campaign CRM (the reseller didn' t even know there exists an extension!). However, the extension also has several problems like disconnecting without warning and there is nothing you can do to reconnect. Sometimes when we relogin to the email it reconnects and sometimes no. So it´s a lottery whether it syncs the sent emails or not. Definitelt nervewrecking. Completely disappointed with Active Campaign and Wildmail and the thousands of euros we paid them.
When it works it is useful. However it is inconsistent and unreliable. I have to keep relogging when you go back to your emails after a gap is really frustrating as it doesn't remember your details. The pop up often also doesnt work if you receive an email direct to your inbox so you have to go to the main active campaign dashboard to add a new contact or deal. It should make it easier but I am left disappointed on a daily basis.
Could be much better... clunky and not very intuitive or reliable.
sometimes the sidebar in Gmail dissapaers. If you have 2FA on, you cannot use the Chrome plugin. It won't allow you to login.
This is terrible! Incredibly slow on Windows 10. Inconsistent as to when it will appear. When it work, it works beautifully but it only works 10% of the time.
This recent update removed a bunch of features making this extension pretty useless. Now I can't add users from with gmail. When i click the chrome extension, none of the information populates from an email so adding a new contact requires copying and pasting into the chrome extension. While I can search contacts (more helpful than the last extension), when i click on them it doesn't even open in active campaign automatically. What it does do is bring me to the login screen no matter how many times I have already logged into active campaign. This is a painfully backwards "upgrade".
Not finished cooking. Why'd they take it out of the oven so early? Maybe spend less time on FB posts about how woke your company is, and more time focusing on why we pay you.
Constant crashes.
It sucks. It rarely connects an email to active campaign
Never reliable. It takes years to load customer information. Also, when adding tasks, it always takes the clicked Day minus 1 (for example, I click on 28/07 and the extension takes it as if I clicked on 27/07) which is very bothering. Finally, you cannot edit tasks from the extension itself - I mean you can edit them but it never saves the changes, so it's useless. Can't recommend at all. Long way to be on par with a beautifully working extension from HubSpot for example.
When it works it's helpful but it's a flawed and I have to keep installing to have it work. If there were a better add on I'd use it, this one is weak
Have to keep reinstalling it. Compared to other gmail tracking services this is awful.
Horrible plugin. Never reliable. Always crashing. Worthless for doing real business.
3rd time reinstalling this plugin. Repeatedly it messes up and just doesn't let me send emails at all.
When it works it is great but when it does not work or capture an email due to its own issues. That is a problem as they are a CRM system that requires to capture all emails from gmail inbox. Also being logged out from time to time. I just do not get why that happens.
Good but could be much better with some small tweaks. Please enable users of password managers to log in more easily (when the extension logs your out for whatever reason unless you remember your details it's nigh on impossible to fill the log in details out since referring to another window closes and clears the login popup - infuriating!). Also, can't the system take an educated guess at first name and last name from email addresses where this information is present before the email domain? Also, if you have multiple lists, please let people select and add them all to a contact, not have to select each one independently. Plus, first name and last name fields in the extension contract to a tiny size as soon as you start to enter text. Annoyingly, the password manager sees these fields as fair game and all I can see if the icon for that, given the weird bug where the text box shrinks.
Not really useful.
The behavior of this extension is not consistent. You don't really know when it syncs or not your emails. Sometimes it works. Today I just discovered that while I activated the sync options on some emails, (I was able to see and select the icon), none were synced. The extension lost the account setting and I had no warning. You keep thinking it's working ok, while it's not. Since there is no option to sync afterward (like in other CRM) you are stuck with your emails in your inbox and nothing logged in active campaign. I've been using it for several years now and despite several versions it's still highly perfectible.
I don't understand why they removed the ability to add people to lists from the gmail plugin directly. Why break it if it was working? Generally it is also buggy, and certain common sense functionality is made way too complicated. (eg. you can only edit notes on an account if there is already a note... so you can't create a new one) Just feel it has potential, but for the price I pay for AC, it's not a very good plugin.
Only a small percentage of emails that I send from my gmail account I want to sync. For example, I don't want my personal emails and emails to suppliers and co-workers to be sync'd into AC. There should be a prompt to 'sync this email with AC'. Sync'd emails should also be added to a list. As it works now, they just get sync'd without a list associated to the contact, so all my sales agents see the contacts. Unusable in my environment.
Would be amazing if it worked. Always bugging out. Adding a task, which I used to use all the time, just gives my a blank interface now. And if I click on a task to update it, I can do that — but there is no save button. And no, it does not automatically save changes. I've spent at least an hour trouble shooting with tech support and they just keep blaming my browser. I've gone through several tries at fixing (clearing cache and cookies, reinstalling, etc) and the problem persists. This app should have never been released in this state.
AC is great but this plugin is awful. Consistently fails and the contact info from the email that you are viewing doesn't auto-populate into the fields. This creates significantly more time suck.
I have been using AC for a year, and the plugin was installed very shortly after. I have had to reinstall it at least five times since the beginning. It often crashes. Right now, it's not picking up a single email open. I have communicated with AC about several problems: - It doesn't track mailmerges. - It stops tracking past emails after a mailmerge. - It crashes frequently. - One moment, an email was opened twice. Another minute later, it was never opened in the first place. I have not seen any reliable change. Customer Service & Tech do not seem to take these issues seriously enough.
Love the idea and love ActiveCampaign, but it just doesn't work the way I'd like it it. There are bugs sometimes when trying to select fields which is annoying but minor. The main item I'd like improved is how the email open tracking works inside the gsuite inbox. It is often unclear and could function better. If this can be improved and beat the functionality of the other plugins for email tracking I would be over the moon on ActiveCampaign.
I've tried this extension a few times. I'm a huge fan of ActiveCampaign so I want to love the extension but it's just not where it needs to be. I do like being able to see if my emails have been viewed by people, but I found this feature to be inconsistent. Sometimes it would show up in sent emails and sometimes it wouldn't. Most recently, I noticed an issue with my Google Workplace email not showing the icon to get to my email templates. After disabling all of my Chrome extensions and re-enabling them one by one, I discovered the ActiveCampaign extension was causing the issue. It's been disabled ever since. I would try it again in the future to see if the issues have been worked out.
Sorting issues, customization limitations. I need to be able to add my custom fields more quickly as well as automations and be able to use it when composing new emails.
I installed it and it worked nicely with GMAIL - the logo was on the right of the pane, if you clicked on it you got some cool info. The best thing was you could add contacts directly from GMAIL - that was cool Then for no reason I can see, it disappeared from GMAIL - it's still installed on CHROME, I can see the plugin symbol, but it's totally disappeared from GMAIL, no sign of it, no logo, no boxes... Gutted
Buggy - always have to reconnect it to my account. Emails don't always sync
Sometimes it works, sometimes it doesn't work. Right now it won't work with gmail at all. I neither see the tracking button when I write an email nor do I see ActiveCampaign contact info when I open an email
I had to lower my previous rating. The recently refreshed extension is an improvement in many areas. UX/UI in particular. But the removal of a function that was essential to my team's workflow -- the ability to hover over any email address and 'call' that contact into the sidebar -- has destroyed several key workflows and made the update useless to me. With no fix in sight I have to look for alternatives. **UPDATE** I was able to roll back to 3.5.4 and it returned the hover function my team desperately needs.
the strangest amount of forced mouse-to-keyboard-to-mouse data entry ridiculousness. Streamline the data entry and this is pretty good!
Is it just me, or is this SLOW! really needs to access crm custom fields, wouldn't knoe if it does, it refuses to load. ive tested evry other gmail extension, working ok, butthis isnt yet.
Needs more functionality. Needs to be able to track link clicks in inidvidual emails sent to prospects. Also needs some sort of desktop alerts functionality. Email open tracking isn't great either. Having to navigate to your out box to view email opens is an unnecessary step. All of this info should be available within the extension when it's open within chrome. Just not robust enough.
Enjoying Active Campaign automation software. However, continued issues with the chrome extension with bugs and crashing issues. It would be great if the plugin could send notifications of overdue tasks and contact activity such as opening emails or visit website.
When the plugin works, it works really well. Right now the UI is a little rough with it defaulting to not showing empty fields (all fields are empty until someone is added so this requires an extra click to "show empty fields"). I will say however that adding a task is super easy and I appreciate that. Haven't incorporated this entirely into my workflow yet but trying to; will keep waiting on it.
The Chrome extension is great when it works. Love when the sidebar pops up and I am able to plug all my new contact's info right into the CRM. Unfortunately, it is hit and miss when it works. I am giving it a 3 (otherwise it would have been a 4) because it is "quirky" at times and doesn't always work the same way. I have reinstalled a couple times. I hope you can get this working more consistently on Chrome - it does save me a lot of time. Any suggestions you may have would be great!
I've been using this plugin for several years now. I can't say I'm 100% happy with it, but it does help. My biggest gripe about it is that if you need to reinstall the plugin [which will happen...] you lose all emails added to the ignore list. Why would this be held locally only and not synced to your ActiveCampaign account? The other thing is that it sometimes just doesn't load at all. I open my inbox and the plugin doesn't show and even after refreshing, logging out and back into AC it just doesn't want to appear. And then, for no apparent reason, it works again... So, not the most reliable and consistent plugin... Also, it wants to include emails from another [personal] Gmail account, which are completely separate from my main [work] Gmail account. It should be possible to set which email accounts the plugin should work with and for it to ignore any other. Other than that, I still find it useful to quickly lookup phone numbers, deals and notes associated with a contact I'm currently viewing in my Gmail inbox...
An okay extension... But not stellar yet. Wish it could auto populated names and phone numbers. At least names! When you click on ADD CONTACT you have to manually type name and number, not really a time saver. And also would be great to able to see and change deal stage straight from the extensions.
I love AC, but this extension has a ways to go. I also have multiple instances of AC for multiple clients PLUS emails for each of them in GSuite. So that may cause some challenges, but for consultants, that will be common. If I'm logged into more than one email at a time (aka always), the email tracking doesn't work. I see in the screen shots above that there is button on the right sidebar, but I don't see one there unless I open an existing email. I'd like to have it from the create email screen as well.
I love AC but the extension needs some work, it glitches and sometimes pulls up a different account (if you have multiple gmail and AC accounts for different businesses)
I really like activecampaign's interface and their support is super top notch. Highly recommended. However, the plugin has issues and doesn't work at the moment (https://snipboard.io/FvsoAT.jpg). When it did worked, it was helpful as a CRM.
I usually don't have issues with it. It always tracks my emails. The extension has become faster and grown to become an entirely new experience. Active Campaign is a very good CRM system and so far we are happy with it!
I like AC, but the extension is not living up to the standard I would expect. I don't even use it really because it does not auto populate rarely, if ever, correctly. Is it convenient? Yes... sort of. Could it be improved? ABSOLUTELY! I am really hoping it gets better because I just started with AC within the last few months and I am really disappointed in this aspect.
ActiveCampaign is great but the extension feels like it could use more work. I'm also not a huge fan of the email popup taking up 1/5th of my screen until I manually close it. Otherwise, good potential.
It does a great job, when it's working. It crashes more than a blind man driving across country.
The Plugin seems to work with e-mail tracking and looking up details but when I attempt to add a new client, the app hangs, however if I go and check in AC the contact is there. Be good to get this fixed.
This has potential to be really good, but it is just OK. When it works (the worst qualifier), it's awesome. It bugs out like crazy when there is more than one email address to deal with. Sometimes it completely prevents you from sending an email, wasting a ton of time. If it didn't have those issues, 5/5 easily... but it does, so 3 stars.
This extension is lackluster. I want the extension to only adapt to the email I login to AC with. I use many alias' in my Gmail account and want only one tracked by Active Campaign. Also, this is my second reinstall, as the extension seemed to crash. Not a huge fan of Hubspot, but maybe a little recon work on their extension would help. Work in progress, I hope.
Not bad, but the lack of read notifications and other core features makes this lag behind the competition such as Hubspot. I hope it can be improved as it's the one thing making me consider a switch.
Love AC and love their idea for this plugin. But they have not thought this through. Both in the concept used as in the UX. So f.e. if you have multiple mails in your gmail and not all of these are linked to your business for AC you would still have to remember to click the link to track each mail before sending it... and if you're not a computer you will forget often.
