I swear to God, this is the most idiotic app I've ever had the misfortune to use. User starts recording from a browser tab? LET'S MOVE USER TO ANOTHER BROWSER TAB TO ASK WHICH BROWSER TAB TO RECORD. Lost your browser tab you started at? Too bad, lmao, you have three seconds to find it. User manages to get back to the tab in three seconds? Let's do the countdown AND WHEN RECORDING STARTS HAVE A POPUP THAT MICROPHONE IS NOT ENABLED, MAYBE THE USER WANTS TO START ENABLING DEVICES BECAUSE WHO DOESNT WANT TO SEE ALL THE SETUP IN THE RECORDING Ah, user clicked no, he doesn't want to enable microphone and restarted the recording? BUT ARE YOU SURE SURE YOU DON'T NEED MICROPHONE TO DO A SIMPLE SCREEN GRAB? LET'S ASK AGAIN AFTER RECORDING HAS STARTED!!!! God me mad enough to come here and leave a review. Most stupid UX in the existance of apps maybe ever. I recommend taking your lead designer and poking his face into this review until he realises the cumulative weight of his mistakes. Duck you, James. Do better or get into farming and let someone competent do the job you're so clearly unable to do.

All features are paid, you cannot even download your videos in low res... its absolute sht, don't use it!

I love Loom, but moving the recording toolbar to the left side of the screen was a terrible UX decision. For those of us recording training videos inside WordPress or Squarespace, that space is critical, and the toolbar now sits directly on top of the admin menus I’m trying to demonstrate, which makes the Chrome extension nearly unusable. I’ve contacted support and keep being told to uninstall or use the desktop app, but I work in Chrome and need the extension to function properly there.

For some reason its associated with an AI company and by default it can read all your pages even when not recording anything...

If I could rate zero stars I would, this extension has saved tons of time-- before it stopped effing working. Now I have wasted more time than ever getting 1.5, 2.5 and 3+ minutes into a recording-- only for this extension to crash my entire browser. Who is patching this broken, non-functioning, defunct extention-- mr magoo? this is unacceptable for a paid subscription. I have uninstalled, reinstalled, uninstalled reinstalled, updated chrome, uninstalled, reinstalled so many times. We are unsubscribing from this service. Ridiculous. Joke. Abomination from one of the the 7 layers of IT Hell. GET. IT. TOGETHER. YOUR EXTENTION CRASHING MY WHOLE BROWSER IS SOOOOO ANNOYING.

The account was disabled without explanation. They promised to send an explanation via email but didn't.

Used to be so so so great. Used to send countless Looms to people. Even became a word. And then, it's gotten terrible since it got bought by Atlassian. So many bugs.. The pause button is not working. The Review and trim is buggy. I don't trust the extension anymore. Started over 5 times for a 4' min video. If your Time & Mental health is a thing, walk away. And Loom, please don't say that you're saving time in your Product Marketing. Used to be true, isn't anymore..

I've used Loom seamlessly for years, the last 2 months It's awful! I can't change screens without it crashing, the video of me in the corner doesn't follow me when I move screens, audio keeps cutting out, what the hell has happened! I pay for it too!!!

I use this frequently for work and often time it just bugs out and doesn't record anything and is an extremely painful experience. Wouldn't pay for it but would use it since it's free and convenient. Super frustrating dealing with all the bugs though. I spend more time for the app to allow me to record than to actually record. It just sits there not doing anything. Wasted about 45 mins so far trying to record about 10 mins of video just so frustrating.

Extremely buggy, not usable on chrome extension

Latest 'update' made the controls so big they block everything else, impossible to switch them off, even though there's a toggle to switch them off - and lock them to the side of the screen SO YOU CANNOT MOVE THEM and access most of the actual UI of things you are trying to use while recording a Loom. Genius move Loom. Congratulations. Best Upgrade Ever!

A recent update has made it unusable. I don't think I've managed to finish a single video over 5 minutes long since late January without a crash, a full browser lockup, or losing all controls on the new sidebar, permissions loops, etc. Besides that, still no linux client..

I've been using loom for years, often many times a day for work, and suddenly I'm not able to move the control bar when recording. What?? It might be user error, but I think not. So frustrating.

I've used this extension for years without issue, but now it doesn't want to record my audio even when I'm following the instructions provided. I've wasted countless hours recording videos just to find out after the fact that the audio wasn't captured.

It used to be great before Atlassian took over. Now it doesn't work!! My whole computer freezes up, I push the Stop button 25 times and it keeps recording. It has become worthless. What a shame.

Loom is freaking hell bad can't access camera and sound. WThat the hell?!

I really don't get it, just another applacation making things way 2 confusing, sign up this, sign up that - chrome version... desktop version, like let me press a button, record my screen....

Doesn't allow you to remove the account. All this kind of apps that trap you like this base their business on hooking you in and sharing your data. This is not only illegal but inmoral. BTW, they dont say you need premium till you have installed it and so they can have (and sell) your data. World is a worse place because of businesses like this. Just try it yourself, try to click on "Remove account" (dont worry, any system asks for a confirmation in any case). Here you will see that nothing happens anyway. PS. Now Im sure I'll start receiving spam emails in the coming days because I registered 12hrs ago.

Pretty bad, can't see the video bubble when I use the extension. Horrible experience.

It's great when it works...Since I switched to the newest macbook a few months ago, this extension and the website has not worked for me on Chrome. From the browser extension, I go to begin recording but it never actually "starts". The countdown begins, the UI appears, but the stop button is greyed out as though nothing is recording. i click stop sharing and nothing was saved. I used to be able to go directly to the website and start vids there, but those button clicks to start recording don't even register. I've updated my mac and browser, but the issues persist. Hoping the Loom team can investigate this.

I took a video with a demo of my app, sent it to a potential client, hoping to answer their questions… The video ended up not functioning on their end. My potential client saw it as a technical issue on my side and I lost the opportunity. Contacting the support, they agreed that the video wasn't uploaded due to a technical issue on their end (they basically lost a big part of my video). I could have been still satisfied with their service if they agreed to refund the current month (I was a paying customer for quite some time). They said my issue (failing to deliver a recording) wasn't included in their refund policy. They lost a paying customer! Look up tldv, it does pretty much the same but for a better support and more trustworthy product. Bye Loom!

Why make an extension to record videos if it can't even do that correctly? I've been using loom for years and just redownloaded it to make a simple video for class but every 5 seconds in the recording it cuts out. Not even mentioning all the ai slop they shove down ur throat. This app needs to be simplified immediatly I'm actually disgusted.

Please create a preference to disable the stupid button in the lower left of my browser window! I don't want that stupid button there ALL THE TIME!!! I can initiate Loom from the Extensions toolbar - I don't need a DUMB BUTTON invading my screen all the time! Get rid of the button!!!!!!!

Have never been able to get this program to do the simple thing it is supposed to do - record a simple screen share. Right now, the whole program seems to be dowm and I can't even watch videos that other people have made. It just says "Sorry, something went wrong on our end. We should have a fix soon. Please try refreshing. " Extremely frustrating - I will NEVER under any circumstance, no matter what they do to improve the usability EVER pay ANY amount of money for this program/app EVER. It is honestly the most useless piece of technology I have ever tried to use. I have found more use for a Tamagotchi in my life than Loom. That is extremely depressing.

I have never in my life seen something so chaotic, so devoid of meaning, I can't even record a simple video. The screen is a mess of icons and nothing makes sense.

I have been a Loom customer for over a year and I have a paid version. Over this period, the Chrome extension has failed on me multiple times. Many important recordings were never uploaded or processed. I regularly have to uninstall and install the extension and desktop app. Been quite frustrating lately. But when it works, it works great. However, the AI functionality is very poor. Not sure what else I can use to replace this.

I just purchased Loom for a year and wish I did not buy it. It's expensive and if it worked I wouldn't mind. It lags and it stops, freezes and slows whatever I'm trying to do a tutorial in. I am not happy. I cannot believe that something so pricey isn't fixed by now. I wont be renewing when it's up next year.

Doesn't record audio despite troubleshooting

Unusable. Simple task - record video about what happens on tab (for bug reporting). Simple? Not so simple. Registration (why it's necessary TO RECORD VIDEO AND SAVE IT LOCALLY?!). which require 3! email confirmations. About 10! nag screens about what connecting this or what. Recorder finally started - not so - constant requests to enable microphone (this PC DOESN'T have any and it's not necessary for tab recording anyway). Constant confusing popups which overlay actual tab.

Free version is extremely limited and cloud-only. Can't even download the recording.

Loom is absolutely AWFUL. It tries to use ai to fix everything and when I recorded it sped up my audio slightly to where it broke and sounded terrible. I also couldn't get my camera to work most of the time when presenting google slides full screen.

Used to be my go to extension for screen recordings, however recently they've started to prevent you from downloading the videos... Presumably to annoy you until you purchase more space.At that point, I think I'd rather just use the OS's screen capture tool

While this may be a good app if you were to pay a few hundred dollars a month, it is awful for free. This is especially a big problem because this is one of the first sites that comes up for free recording software. Not only this, but you are not even able to download the videos!

Couldn't log in - couldn't authenticate says on screen to get in touch with loom but no contact info??? So I've had to create a new account with a different email I don't use that's unmanned will create a headache when it's time to do accounts and vat returns all invoices should come to my biz email but re issue can't log in. ???

Stops working every few days.

Mac user. This was good 2 years ago. Now I hate it. Spent 25 mins recording and re-recording an SOP but it kept freezing up. And the worse part: I am a paying user with tons of glitches. On Chrome you can be recording but unsure--the management bar disappears. When I swap tabs, the timer is MIA. I don't know if I'm recording 75% of the time because the play/pause button is missing or unclickable.

Never make another screen recorder again. Basic functions are paywalled and there is already little to no functionality.
