Description

FoxyProxy is an open-source, advanced proxy management tool that completely replaces Chrome's limited proxying capabilities. No paid accounts are necessary; bring your own proxies or buy from any vendor. The original proxy tool, since 2006. FoxyProxy has been owned and developed consistently by the same team since 2006. It has never been sold and never will. WHAT IS IT? FoxyProxy is a Chrome and Firefox extension which switches an internet connection across one or more proxy servers: 1. by point-and-click of colored icons 2. by URL (define URL patterns with wildcards or regular expressions) 3. by browser tab - set individual proxies per tab: assign up to 4 proxy servers for use on 4 different tabs. FoxyProxy automates the manual process of editing your browser's proxy settings. * Customize colors and country flags to make it easy to see which proxy is in use * Proxy per tab, by URL, or by point-and-click of colored icons * Import/Export all of your settings, or just URL patterns, to share with others (fixed in 8.0 and above) * Select a proxy specifically to use in Incognito Mode * Keyboard shortcuts * Globally exclude any domain from proxying * Create patterns with wildcards or regular expressions. A pattern tester is included. * (optional) Automatically synchronize all of your proxy settings with your other Chrome instances when you use Sync. * Turn WebRTC on/off to further limit discovery of your IP address * Built-in predefined selections for tor, privoxy, and psiphon * Extensive built-in help Source code is at https://github.com/foxyproxy/browser-extension FoxyProxy has been owned and developed consistently by the same team since 2006. It has never been sold and never will. PERMISSIONS * downloads: Required to export the extension settings to a file. Users can import that file to other Chrome/Firefox instances, or share it with colleagues, in order to keep the same settings. It can also be backed up and used later. * proxy: The core function of the extension is to allow users to set the proxy server used by the browser. * storage: Required to store proxy server settings (hostname, port, username, and which proxy server is enabled by the user). * tabs: Required so that users can set separate proxies to use per tab. It is also needed for "QuickAdd" to quickly add a URL pattern that applies to the current/active tab. It is also used to open a URL to getfoxyproxy.org where there is online help. webRequest: Required to authenticate with proxy servers via webRequest.onAuthRequired webRequestAuthProvider: Required to authenticate with proxies servers via webRequest.onAuthRequired * browsingData: Required so the extension can delete cookies, indexedDB, and localStorage when requested by the user on the Options page (Delete Browsing Data button) privacy: Required so the extension can call browser.privacy.network.webRTCIPHandlingPolicy to turn on/off webRTC in Chrome (Limit WebRTC checkbox in Options page) * host permission: Required to proxy all webRequests and provide proxy server authentication. <all_urls> is used because users may choose to load any/all URLs through proxy servers (chrome.webRequest.onAuthRequired and chrome.webRequest.onAuthRequired.addListener) . Required to proxy all webRequests and provide proxy server authentication. Also needed to get accounts details from FoxyProxy servers, if requested by the user with the Import FoxyProxy Account on the Import tab. ** No remote code is used in this extension. **

Doesn't work half the time and is unnecessarily confusing for no reason. Switched to Zero Omega and everything works perfectly.

Might as well make it Chinese because none of the buttons do what they say

Poor UI/UX, doesn't work on Chrome anymore (fine on Firefox).

I used to love it but it's gotten less reliable. I'm sad to be looking for alternatives.

Worst extension ever, SOCKS5 Auth does not even work. Just remove it.

Why would they ever remove auth from SOCKS proxy

awful, broken, now just a cash-grab to get you to sign up for their proxy service since version 8.0 onward. Very short-term thinking by the dev, their review ratings will soon dip below two stars, and they'll go out of business, and wonder why. Because they ruined their flagship product that made them a trusted brand in the "proxy" space.

Useless program and the 4 and 5 star reviews look liek ther written by bots. Try making a version that comes with an actual proxy

First this one goes 8 years without updates, then on some of the computers it just broke and now suddenly FP wants new permissions without any explanation as to why they are needed, while also using 10 year old crypto libraries and the commit history on Github not even trying to say what was changed. it's all just become a little too sus to use for anything serious.

Doesn't connect to password-protected SOCKS5 proxies, despite having the options to do so. Actually, does connect to the very same proxies when on Firefox!

When this extension is enabled and I search for something on Google the browser sits and spins indefinitely. If I go to an incognito window without the extension or disable it and everything is fine. Fix. Your. Plugin.

- "Proxies" list does not always show up (have to exit out and come back in) - Does **not** remember login / password credentials for each proxy. When Chrome is closed then re-opened, all login / password credentials will be blanked. - For me, I have had Foxy Proxy disable itself with NO input from me whatsoever on multiple occasions. (Foxy Proxy extension menu spontaneously goes to "Disable FoxyProxy" on its own!) That is ***HUGE***. USER BEWARE OF THIS!!! Running version FoxyProxy 4.6.5 on Firefox is rock solid. This in its current state is a complete disaster. I can't for the life of me understand why everyone wants to use Chrome.

IT DIDN'T WORK AT ALL!!!!

Folks completely broken both import and export. Export is destroyed by google API change, which is not followed by developers. Import is seriously ducked up because it would not accept Firefox's config. Add here Google's ducking with user's profile with often and constant user data deletion, and voila: you have FoxyProxy isolated in vacuum of stupidity. I 'm not going to config this extension manually ever again. Either developers fix import/export, or GTFO.

I didn't even have proxying enabled, and it slowed every site down. Chrome preferences took 3-5s to load afterward.

it's slowing my chrome down with 5 seconds or so each time I am opening a new tab or a page didn't finish to load. it sucks. I didn't know why it's slowing my mac down. I removed all my data and started all over again. Initially I thought it's flash. but no. amassingly.. it is this plugin

no option to route DNS through a proxy.

Does not work, configured proxies and patterns just disappear and reappear at random.

How the heck do I uninstall this? It just doesn't work for what I'm trying to use it for.

★☆☆☆☆2014-10-16
Rick Franchuk (Rick at CAMG)

Normally a great addon that I use regularly -- with the 3.0.5 revision, it fails and refuses to connect to ANY site with the message "ERR_MANDATORY_PROXY_CONFIGURATION_FAILED" when used normally. 3.0.5 can still be used if you want to manually set proxies for every site you visit, but for anything more advanced it simply does not work at this time. Hopefully they'll fix it soon.

★☆☆☆☆2014-08-18
Bart Schelstraete

doesn't work correctly. Switching profiles aren't always working, adding new proxy gives problems with grayed out input fields, etc.

★☆☆☆☆2014-07-30
Adi Iepure

Can't even create a proxy anymore. It works fine on FF.

Proxy selection with regexps doesn't seem to work at all.

★☆☆☆☆2014-06-20
Tripple Moon (TriMoon)

Useless ! Does not work when you have multiple proxies setup and want to use pattern selection to auto-switch proxies. Also import from FF version does not work. Disabling it now.

★☆☆☆☆2014-06-03
Kyle Hasegawa

Used to be a great tool but recent updates have severely broken this extension. Profiles disappear, pattern matching is intermittent and sometimes breaks access to all sites, logo no longer changes color to indicate if a proxy is in use.
