it is not free. Just gives one month trial. I didnt know about this in advance
It's not free for long.
Not paying for this...
its good, but it will set all pages to light mode whenever it is not being used, because it wants you to keep using it even when it is not needed. even when your trial has ended and you are forced to pay to keep using it, so they try to take away dark mode from you completely. its good but dont add it to your browser.
recent update broke certain websites. this code is too invasive now to where it breaks sensitive web pages. i have tried contacting support but haven't heard back in over 24 hours. I paid for the ultimate version where i should get support from the devs. edit: its been 48 hours and no response from them. they will steal your money and not give you support when they decide to break their plugin with "updates". the January 19th update isn't even on the change log on their website. straight trash, avoid at all costs.
buggy flashes between dark and light. do not download
paid
Lmao they want you to pay a subscription for this
paid subscription for such a little thing
it is paid when there are other free to use dark mode extensions. All of the other 5 star reviews are botted.
dont work
requires you to install another app to work
It wants me to sign up for their subscription service and pay them $15 to $20 a year or $50 to buy the extension. That price is a ripoff for a browser extension that brings nothing new or unique features to the table when compared to all the other dark mode extensions. All the other dark mode extensions are free to use on every website. If I don't pay to use this extension, I can only use Night Eye on 5 websites. This is ridiculous considering there are better dark mode extensions than this one that are free to use on all website. Like the extensions Shade Dark Mode, Dark Reader, Dark Mode, Dark Night Mode..., are all free with better functionality that this pay/rent extension.
cost money after a month. go find a free one
Charges money for a feature that's free on other extensions 👎
It works, but they want money. I'll use something else, thanks.
Subscription-based functionality: Without spending money every month it only works for up to 5 websites.
stops working after some time, then asks you to pay or keep it for free for only for 5 websites
You cant use it forever for free, after some time it wants you to pay or keep it for free and only for 5 websites
requires a subscription. fails to inform you of this till you install.
not free. time wasted. what else are they hiding from us?
Monthly payment.
Stops working after a while. It charges you to buy the premium version.
Amazing, and then it's not once the trial expires... Didn't even know there was a trial.
Trialware.
This is so stupid. I need a dark mode for 1 specific website. But within the settings, you can either set all to dark mode or normal which forces you to set manually every possible website to one state or another... How is that difficult to make a default for every website and add to whitelist the one needed manually?? Oh. My. God. Edit: is "normal" supposed to not overrule the specific websites theme? Because currently some website are set in light mode instead of dark mode just by having the expansion (even turned off)
i will change my rating if they send me a discount code to reduce price of the one time payment plan
I'd give ZERO stars if I could. Charging people to have dark mode on more than only FIVE websites is insane! DO NOT USE THIS EXTENSION!!!
FORCES you to PAY after a month they make you pay 40 dollars, for something as simple as this
it turns all dark mode sites to light mode for some reason and breaks some of the site settings
Unsure how you make a darkmode extension that's meant to do something so basic freeze up my pc...
Just a trial period. They it charges to keep using it. I did not read that in the description
Will ask a paid subscription later.
This plugin will CRUSH your computer when playing youtube videos, causes over half the frames to be dropped. Don't let this junk near your computer.
It has bugged every single website that I used and YouTube is super laggy I don't recommend this extension.
Videos lag. Fail.
twitch lagging when dark mode is active lol
not free, why would i pay for that lol
Baitware. Does what it says... Until the trial runs out. I didn't keep it long enough to experience it after the free "Ultimate" trial. It's a program that changes CSS on websites... Why does it cost money by default? I can understand a subscription fee for things like support, syncing, premium filters, etc... But giving a free trial by default, without telling people right off that they're in a trial, and rug pulling after the trial runs out. I don't like that. It's scummy. For everyone looking for a dark mode extension. It's 2024 at the time of this review. There are so many better free options out there. Many included directly in the browser.
Once the trial runs out, Night Eye forces "Light Mode" onto all websites you visit, even websites with a native Dark Mode!!!!!!! 🤣🤣💀💀 Like bro RELAX lmao this is surely against TOS
Will force all the sites to use bright mode after the free trial ends. I didnt understand why linkedin and fb and so are keeping turning from dark mode to bright mode after I refresh. After I removed this extension - everything was fixed.
Now requires payment for more than 5 sites to be in dark mode. Not worth the money when there are free alternatives that do the same thing.
I recently tried this extension expecting some decent dark mode capabilities, but I was utterly disappointed. First off, it's a trial version, which was already a red flag. The free version only allows you to apply dark mode to five websites—really? In a world where there are so many better options available, this feels like a joke. Plus, I found that the dark effect is limited websites it does support isn’t even consistent, one of the pages the text is all purple. This extension seems to be more about wanting money than enhancing your browsing experience. I guess if you give Chrome store enough money up front you can get "featured". In summary, save yourself the time and hassle. There are far superior dark mode extensions out there that don’t come with these ridiculous limitations. Smack this developer across the back of the head trying to get payments. Don’t make the install—just skip it!
good but not free
It's already bad that you can only use it with a list of 5 websites, but on top of that, it whitens other websites that have dark themes by themselves if they're not on that list of 5...
As soon as you install they want you to go premium and pay otherwise you have to activate free which is limited to 5 sites. No thanks.
as soon as i installed i got a boat load of spam emails
There are better free options available. Not worth the price.
When I have it on, my YouTube loads slower, but when I turn it off It keeps changing my Youtube to light mode even though its set to off. I even delisted Youtube in the settings but that just didn't work for some reason, idk why they would have a setting to delist specific sights butt not have it actually do anything. extreamly anoying
Paid extension, which is insane Sadly does not work well for opera either, covers the side bars and makes them look very weird.. it also makes everything load extremely slow so i just get more annoyed with it.
