No time tracking. I mean, how do you bill yourself as a project management or organizational app without time tracking. It's basically a list app that cost $99/year.
more enticing promises that can't be explored without paying a subscription. You lost me there. Don't waste my time
Can't figure out if it would work for me since everything is locked and costs $$ to unlock.
business for single person use. everything is locked. if i can test and verify, maybe i will switch, but no 1 month free trial. what are you, beyonce ? and to add a simple task, click 100 times. its fun to do with 1 task, but daily with many tasks, no thanks.
Just too busy of an app for my liking.
Unfortunately it is difficult to rate an application when you are not allowed to at least trial the app using all its features. This is just bad business
Wow. Not a very intelligent way to promote your product guys. You can clearly see the same sentiment being expressed from many of your prospects in the reviews below who would all potentially be your long-term paying users if you knew how to market your product. It is absolutely infuriating to be met with a shell of a product with all of its features stripped away and to be asked to pay for it for a full 1, 2 or year term without the ability to at the very least try your DropTask For Business plan. You should definitely rethink your monetization strategy because not only are you not converting but you're actually building animosity towards your product.
I tried to use the free home version, however it is practically useless. Any feature that I want to use is unavailable unless you upgrade to the business version. The upgrade only provides an option for an annual or 2 year price, paid in advance. If you were confident in your product, you would offer a monthly subscription option. I'm really dissapointed by this, a waste of time.
Unfortunately immediately after i paid $99 I learned your latest update had bugs and everyone was upset. The app was not working as advertised. I loved its features but without the... Task lists Sync with Gmail Sync with Google Calendar I had to cancel and use another service. I loved the circles and layout but it was only half effective. I'm giving one star because I asked for a refund when I cancelled. (a week after buying, hoping and waiting for the bugs to be fixed.) I wasn't granted one. And after reading your fine print it's pretty fine. No flex in your policy. The old "as is" cost me $99. I'll try to pay closer attention to the fine print next time.
Drop Task came highly recommended by a friend, but Asana is better...for a few reasons. Drop Task forces you to pay for basic features like creating a sub task or centralized communication that is offered in apps like Asana for free. The visual aspect of Drop task is ok, but not necessary and certainly does not supersede basic functionality. There are other, amazing features in Drop task that could be made a part of the paid version. The best task management tools do not make people pay for basic functionality, they bait you with a taste of what makes them unique and get you to pay for that. Also, the only way to see your tasks groped by project is the in the visual or "group" view. By the time I got to 6 groups, this already became a pain; dragging around a screen to find what needed to work on or to organize my projects. Once you go to the list view, all of your tasks just run together like in Asana's "My Tasks" view (only one of several ways you can look at your project in Asana). Asana does all of the basics better. IF you need this to keep track of basic, personal tasks, it works fine. If the basic issues are fixed, e.g. giving you the ability to group your projects and tasks in list view, I would happily switch to give the paid version a try.
This is way to difficult to accomplish. Big circles and little circles are a great visual but not if it takes forever to set it up. Plain old COZI for me. Sorry guys I tried it.
Even after de activation, they continue to take my money
The program itself is not bad, but the customer service is horrible.
trial is useless
Didn't try it. Too little allowed projects for free users (5). Uninstalled.
On my Mac circles got HUGE on their own and could not ever fit in screen. Deleting it.
Great concept, but... Bubbles should go gray or change when complete. Dependencies are not possible so the only way to prioritize is giving everything high/low importance and changing those every time a task is complete. One of my groups of bubbles disappeared entirely when I logged out and logged back in later. Glad I decided to try it out before integrating into my organization. I hope they fix these issues because I was pretty excited about switching over from Trello. Great start, but not ready for prime time. With some tweaking I'd be hooked.
Terrible
This extension and the related app look like they might be really useful to me as an individual just trying to organize all of her work and home projects and tasks. Unfortunately, it's impossible to even tell if DropTask is useful without access to the majority of it's features without paying for a minimum 1 year subscription at a price tag of $100. It's also a shame not to have a plan for individual users at a lower rate, but that's moot since I can't tell if I like the product.
Tech support is lacking. Maybe I'll continue to use this, maybe not, I want to think I did not throw my money down the drain.
The Idea Is Great! However functionality is not. It is a Scam Product! I am not a business I am a home user, I may not a business so why do I need to pay for a business upgrade to do the most basic things. tried to use the free home version, however it is practically useless. Any feature that I want to use is unavailable unless you upgrade to the business version. The upgrade only provides an option for an annual or 2 year price, paid in advance. If you were confident in your product, you would offer a monthly subscription option. I'm really dissapointed by this,Shame on you guys!!!
Annoying forced tutorial...just making a new account can't start working
Not willing to pay for an entire year unless I know it would work for me.
Very unintuitive software. For example, there is a cog - the typical icon for settings. But droptask has 2 cogs, on towards the top, one towards the bottom, that do different settings (never saw that before in any product). So after finding the cog and getting frustrated looking for the setting you want you have to go look for help. This unintuitiveness is the same for other features. Looking for ways to filter things in the list (icon that does not represent filtering to me nor used in other products, should be at the top, not the bottom). How it changes things in the free program vs the paid version (so the help doesn't match). Even after learning the basics (how to create a category and tasks and edit them and set attributes) doing anything more than that is difficult (e.g. with one person tasks does not list any tasks - huh??, you have to go to mytasks to see the tasks, so what shows in tasks if you are an admin person? Or is that a bug...). I found myself going to help text way too much for learning the basics of a product, I can't remember the last time I had to use help that much - again, very unuserfriendly. Add-ons, something you think they would want to sell, give brief explanations that are not always enough to understand what you are getting (seems to be a theme with them, you have to pay for something before you know how it works). Extended Views is up for grabs what that really does. iMindMap integration (that it doesn't transfer full information) is not detailed. As others said, this works for very simple projects, a few categories and a few tasks per categories is about as much as the program can handle or it is too large to be manageable (can't read text if you shrink it, can't see the entire picture if you make it larger, and I am on a 5K 27" screen). If you have future categories collapsing them helps. Viewing it on an smartphone is even worse. Task list view is worthless to me. I am used to Toodledo where I can filter not only how I want to see something but filter out things I don't want to see (Toodledo is an extremely flexible product - very easy to do tasks due in next week sorted by person). As others have said, I would never sign up for an annual product for this price that I could not fully try out first. Minimum I would need to have 1 project with 2 users and full features for the trail would give a decent feel for how things worked (e.g. put one project into it). While I liked the size difference for the effort required, the "badges" - red flags, lightening bolts, etc. were not useful at all. When the entire project is seen these are not different enough to be able to tell which one they are, having one "badge" that we choose what it was and color coding text would be a better choice. Also, isn't it silly to have importance and urgency? Both say do now, only one is needed to say do this task(s) first. Oh, also definitely needed (based on other's comments) is way to set what kinds of reminders occurred and what didn't (e.g. only 1 project or only critical task, or only from one person, or only the tasks marked to ask for reminders, etc.). Again, flexibility is needed. I tested this out for a very simple project and I question it's use for that. There is no way I could use it for the typical projects we work on that have 10-20 items each category and 10-20 categories per task. That is for one project, let alone running 3-4 of these projects at a time. Again, the only way I would recommend this to someone is if they were doing something very simple, by themselves or with one other person, and a 20 item task list, sorted by person/importance/etc. is overwhelming to them or the other person. And I would recommend the free program only - not worth paying about $100 for something that can only do very simple projects. [Example, Toodledo gives 85% of the features in it's free version. If you need one of the other features such as collaboration it is only about $15 a year. What a difference compared to this product.
no direct printing options.
I spent 2 hours working on groups and tasks, I had saved everything; My internet cut off and now I cannot find anything I worked so hard for. So annoying. I am going to install since there seems to be nowhere to get answers either. I had fun though, so gave it a 2 instead of a 1.
The free version had me hooked and I wanted to try it with the actual features we will need as a team, exa the ability to include notes and assign tasks to others. I asked if I could pay for one month upgrade or try it for free and was told no. After reading these reviews I will look for something else, dont want to throw out $200!!! Please Pleae let us at least pay for one month business plan to try it to see if it works, otherwise you will go out of business. If things change let me know and i will definitely try before I buy!
Still missing some important features but quite useful as is it.
I want to love this but there are to many basic features it doesn't have.
Some really cool features with the visualization of tasks, and what is there works well. However, it lacks some needed features that other Task Management programs have. Needs to improve the mobile features, and needs to create a Chrome and/or Firefox extension to capture webpages and emails as tasks. Will have to see how quickly they respond to the many requests in their forums.
Fair program, OK for small company and a few projects, Visualization difficult to navigate, and can't create a summary document. No sure I will renew subscription.
I've been using this tool with a lot of success for around 6 weeks now and it's improved my productivity considerably while allowing me to assign tasks to my team. However it still has a pretty large hole in its functionality which needs addressing... That of no historical record of completed tasks. You get a day in which the task is completed and shows and then it is lost forever. If like me you find yourself wanting to check back on who did what, who maybe misclicked on "complete" or just figure out what you might have done better... Well that functionality is totally absent. That might be a deal breaker for some so just be aware. For all that, it's still a great way of organising thoughts for folks like me who like working in a visual space rather than in lists... So, I'm hopefully there will be reason to return and improve the rating with the tools functionality...
Like, but constant connection problems, even with ethernet. Closing and reopening browser does not help. 'There was a problem with the connection. Changes made now may be lost. Please refresh your browser.'
Yeah, great app, but two stars off because (1) it is very difficult to arrange the group circles to print properly. There should be a boundary on the page so you can see what will fit on the printout. (2) the list view cannot be expanded to show sub-tasks, so you have to click on each task with a subtask to see what the sub-tasks are and what progress has been made on them.
Good app. But not being able to set up a time is a total killer. Android + Apple apps are also a must these days, especially for a task manager app.
---- PROS ---- Syncs with google tasks. NO ADS. Amazing all the features for free. Awesome task grouping interface. ---- CONS ---- Offline Chrome app support would be great. Task entry not as quick as google's and web page crashes frequently. Android app? ---- OTHER ---- Wish I would of found this earlier. Keep up the good work! I haven't tried the repeat tasks and other features but so far so good.
