Description

Codeanywhere is a AI Cloud IDE. Our AI Cloud IDE saves you time by deploying a development environment in seconds, enabling you to code, learn, build, and collaborate on your projects. With this extension, you can easily launch a development environment directly from your GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket projects with a single click. ## How it works: 1. **Install the browser extension.** 2. **Navigate to your project** on GitHub, GitLab, or Bitbucket. 3. **Click the Open in Codeanywhere button** to instantly launch a fully configured development environment for your project. Codeanywhere makes developers forget what device they are working on and let them concentrate on getting work done - all you need is a web browser. Key Features: • Syntax highlighting of more than 100 languages • Autocomplete for HTML, XML, CSS, JavaScript, Python and PHP • Cloud based FTP and SFTP Client • Web based Terminal, connect to remote servers via SSH • Git Client • Tools - Pre-installed language runtimes and tools for all popular programming languages. • Share your projects with other developers in real-time • Live Collaboration - Team up with your fellow developers and collaborate on your projects • Linter analyses your code constantly during the coding process.using pair programming or live terminal sessions. • Debug -With integrated debugger add break points, inspect call stacks, and see output using interactive console Access from anywhere at https://codeanywhere.com The extension requires scripting, contextMenus, and activeTab permissions to add quick repository opening functionality (a button to open in Codeanywhere next to the clone button) from git provider pages to CodeAnywhere IDE, streamlining the development workflow by providing one-click access from repository pages. Remote Code Use: The extension contains all code locally and does not execute remote code. Storage Use: No user data or preferences are stored locally or remotely. Data & Privacy: No personal information is collected. The extension only reads repository URLs when activated and only connects to CodeAnywhere when explicitly opening a repository. No analytics or tracking is implemented.

These folks set the low bar for the absolute worst support in the industry. Completely useless. 2 week response time, and then when they do respond they are absolutely no help. Paid account had key features removed with no notice and then when I contact them to ask about it, they take no accountability. Will not respond to inquiries about bugs in THEIR software. Stay away.

At first it all seemed great until I was in need of Support. If you reach the point that you need support you might as well go find a new program. Also, they do not understand how to give refunds so keep that in mind if you are paying for a year's access. Just stay away.

My editor broke after using it twice. You can't do anything. I contacted support, but was told that support is only provided on paid accounts. I'm not going to pay for something that broke while I was evaluating it. I had a student's free container break in exactly the same way, and I wonder if it's simply a way to get people to pay.

Awful. Absolutely the worst text editor I have ever seen. Here is a tip. Sell your chormebook and settle for anything else you can get your hands on.

I check in on this tool every 6 months-ish to see if they've improved their product, but I keep running into the same unresolved obstacles. Meanwhile codeenvy and cloud9 improve constantly. In fact the latter is much more usable on chrome for android (even on a phone) than the codeanywhere native app. There's no synchronization between the connections I create in the native app and what I see in the website code editor. Plenty of odd, unexplained errors at various spots (the "undefined" description in the profile pull-down menu, the unknown error that occurs during validating an FTP/SFTP connection, the constant failure to take care of expired refresh tokens automatically for Google drive file system integrations, etc, etc, etc). I saw the news today that they are integrating with digital ocean now, so decided to give this a spin once more, but the product (whether from a browser or mobile app) is still full of frustrating rough spots and poorly tested half-finished features that (by contrast) do work well on their competitors products. And sooner or later you gotta wonder if jetbrains will introduce a cloud based IDE too, so hopefully codeanywhere can catch up to the quality level being set by the market by then.

Worked great for our team at first... then they randomly updated the interface and removed/changed a ton of functionality we really liked. I guess thats the risk you take with a service like this.

Could not join to my own FTP server. Server is working. I don´t know why.

Codeanywhere is excellent and I use it a lot. The only reason I've given just 3 stars is that you can't select text to copy and paste, or just delete, with a stylus on a touchscreen. I use a chromebook tablet which doesn't have a physical keyboard, so I find that a big issue. The only way for me to do any useful touchscreen editing on chromeos therefore is to use a bluetooth keyboard. I can select text in other apps/webpages so this is probably just a css style thing. If it got sorted I'd give 5 stars :-)

Good app, unfortunately for students is too expensive subscription.
