I love this extension, but unfortunately the developers don't seem to be interesting in fixing the long list of bugs. They are too busy with their upcoming app or whatever. Some annoying bugs: - The extension enables itself when you start a new video even when previously disabled - When there are no Japanese subtitles, the extension keeps opening the subtitle panel and freezing the video for the first minute - If you leave a video and go to the main page and start a new video, there will be two bird icons in the status bar. Every time you do this there is an extra icon. ...and a lot more. I'm going to have to give this one star until they fix these bugs.
It works on youtube but not on Netflix in my case which is sad coz I watch a lot of shows there
As a pop up dictionary it works and looks great. Features like the video auto-pausing on hover and resume on cursor exit, the words being separated visually, "times seen" for each word etc are great. And I'm sure many will appreciate being able to download an extension that doesn't have to be set up rather than configuring something like Yomichan and manually finding dictionaries, which can be a pain and is a barrier to entry. However, it would be better if these features were focused on and expanded upon rather than trying to be another Migaku like service that tries to make its own SRS system that is invariably worse than just connecting to Anki . Why not use AnkiConnect and let us create cards that way? And supposing I don't want to, why would I use this service over something like Migaku which has similar features, but a better built in SRS system (even if it's still not great)? "Quizzing" instead of simply reviewing the words was a really bad design choice, it makes it far too easy to guess what the word is from context instead of having to actually recall it. Maybe it's more comfortable, but in terms of actually learning and retaining vocab it's a pretty useless system. Reminds me of the mobile apps like Duolingo, which are fun, but they are ruthlessly inefficient ways to learn. I apologise for being so critical but I want to provide some helpful feedback because you guys have built some useful tools. I just think trying to develop your own SRS is a misallocation of resources
A pretty good flashcard system for learning words. Although I noticed some words either use incorrect or archaic meanings (すごい translating as "terrible; dreadful" when it is much more commonly used for "awesome; great" or うまい which in my contextual experience is used as "delicious; great")
QUIZZES are slow bad, too easy to guess the answer. my times seen function always stays at one. at least it keeps track of words for free unlike langreactor
A little finicky, but it seems nice. I hope you can add this extension to KickAssAnime.am soon, since that's my go-to anime website.
Its a good app, it show subtitles and you can hoover over them to learn more about the words, if it works. And thats the entire issue. It does not always work, sometimes the lyrics are just in Romanji and it shows no Hiragana/Katakana/Kanji at all and you can also not hoover over words to learn from them. You guys need to bugfix this ASAP!
