Doesn't work at all with the current version of Chrome from what I can tell.
IT TRACKED MY VPN
Complete nonsense. It can only show you the IP of your local machine. I'm pretty sure every website on the internet doesn't have the same 10.131.*.* IP address....
Spam extension - Run!
it does not work!
Fails to follow chrome DNS so it doesn't really tell you what IP you are browsing. Makes it somewhat useless for me. Its supposed to tell me what IP I'm browsing, and it doesn't. I have screenshot proof but can't post in the review.
Doesn't respect hosts file. Why can't any available Chrome plugin just show the actual IP of the site you just loaded?? Surely this must be available to extensions. *sigh* No hosts file, no good!
After wondering why my updates weren't appearing on the site I did a ping from my command line and saw that the ip address did not match what Website IP was reporting. I use tools like these so I don't get confused during DNS change propagation but whatever this is using to get the IP information does not match my machine and can therefore display an incorrect IP. Useless for my purposes.
Why the extension needs to access all my information on the site I'm looking to just get the IP address? I think there is something strange
This is spyware program - all your visited sites send to remote server!
It is unbelievable that this does not let you to copy the ip to clipboard.
This extension has a giant memory leak: the URL of every single request just sits in RAM until you restart the browser. How this got twice as many users as IPvFoo, I'll never know.
It is calling home server every time you visit any website, injects google analytics code and tracks your activity in the browser!!! Recommending to uninstall.
useless, actually
Simply elegant tool. Very small and usually doesn't get in the way of page content. Two problems: 1.. Mouse over of the IP moves it to the other side of the page. (I guess to move it out of the way of page content that is in that spot?) The feature is more annoying than helpful. 2.. Can't hide the tool bar button.
It works, but fails for sites that get fetched through my proxy (shows proxy IP). Could use more details as well.
there is no way to copy ip to clipboard
useful, but without options to change how it displays it's useless on some sites.
Nicely done and at first glance, the replacement I've been looking for, for the Firefox ShowIP addon. Unfortunately it's useless to me, as the address is resolved from a remote system, not mine. This means that the ip address shown is wrong if I have a hosts file entry, or am using a DNS server with different information to this extension's DNS server.
You cannot copy the IP from the tab. so if you need to get it you will need to swap between tabs or memorize the IP address. It's a good app, but there aren't enough real features to it to make me want to give it 5 stars. It does work as advertised I give it that, but still needs more work/features to be a comprehensive Productivity app for people actually need this in their browser.
It doesn't seem to work with IPv6. My network is fully ready for IPv6 and applications will use it in preference to IPv4 whenever possible. When I go to sites that have both IPv4 & IPv6 addresses, Website IP shows only the IPv4 address. When I go to an IPv6 only site, it only displays the host name and no IP address. This means Website IP is useless for IPv6 addresses. I'll be uninstalling it as all but useless. For an example of how it should work, try "ShowIP" for the Firefox and Seamonkey browsers.
