No save prompt is a deal breaker. Please ping me when there is an option to get this or an autosave. And no https? These are weird and regrettable failures, making all the interesting features void.
Even cannot log in!
No Greek !!!
Could not get it to work, and not a safe website. Am trying to uninstall it.
No httpS? Seriously?
does not work cannot login. why are all the google apps so bad.
Bloatware full of ads ....
Not connected with my txt document
Not working for simple text files
Where is it ?
Total ad infested rubbish deleted after 10 mins
Too many ads. needs special login. probably just spam
Doesn't open txt properly, especially problems at special characters.
Ads on both sides of the application. Can't trust this for anything that's remotely private.
window can not be resized. It opens tiny window with ads on both size. Practically you use 60% of your display.
Could you add support for Umlaute, please? They appear as question marks.
bad because not working
nice
Always pesters you with 'Do you really, really want to save this document' prompt. Can't turn it off. Needs Save means SAVE_IT_DAMIT! option. Hit the "Visit Website" button to ask the developer. It opened a blank document. Great way to prevent being pestered for tech support. Looking for another simple text editor
Works ok, but beware it's STILL not safe, even few years has passed. It uses http instead of https, so remember not to type anything sensitive using this app.
OKay.. but don't edit certain file types. Also does not handle Linux/Win LF vs CRLFs well.. no contextual code coloring, column position, etc.
It would be nice if it could open files like .cpp etc straight from the drive.
google told me the app wasn't safe so i had to remove it :(
legal
good
This editor is the best that I have found yet, but STILL LOOKING. I am looking for a text editor that allows voice input and printing. Voice input is not converted to text. I am using SpeechNotesX Voice-Typing on a Chromebook. Printing is a two-step process, in which it opens up a separate Tab to print from, but at least that is better than others I have tried. I would agree that losing your text when closing a tab is a big disappointment.
Close, but it insists on saving the file in UTF-8 format and not the format I specify. Pity, it was very close to useful...
Works pretty well as a basic text editor. I don't use it for code so can't comment on the code-specific features. Main irritation is the completely unnecessary "Are you sure?" prompt to save a document, while closing the app's tab or window just blows away your work without a prompt or a chance to recover. Isn't this backwards from the way it should work? UPDATE: Also problematic is the periodic app request to reauthorize access to Google Drive, whose settings show it already authorized. Worse, clicking the Login and Authorize button fails, with no way to intervene and fix whatever has gone wrong. That's pretty annoying.
One big problem is that it does not ask whether I want to save my edits when I close the tab without saving. This is a deal-breaker for me.
Meh. Very basic, tries to be more than what it can actually be. If it concentrated on just being a nice clean simple notepad it would be perfect. But it makes a half-hearted attempted to be much more. Too bad, I really want notepad.exe for Google Drive!!!
