Frustrating. I would search for a source and then just watch a wheel spin. And spin. And spin....
8£ a month not for me
This isn't an app like google news stand, or flipbook both of which i have on my phone and tablet respectively, and which work just as well as you you would expect. Good news is very different in that when you launch the "app" it opens a new browser window, which requires a forced sign in to continue,it asks for google credentials or manual sign in. I can see no reason for this "app" to require a sign in before each read so I clicked "remove from chrome" straight away. I find it strange that none of these reviews mention this. ill stick with the flipbook and the google news stand apps,I can live without a news reader on my chromebook until one of the above apps is available on the chrome store.
Slow response, not very intutive, Big boxes not best way to present articles
Don't like this app b/c I'm looking for subjects I care about...not latest headlines from mainstream news websites! Doesn't anyone care to have their news tailored according to what they WANT to know about? I have Google News, which is OK...but you can only search for "so-many" words/phrases. I'd like to have an app that really goes the full distance while searching thru the news and doesn't restrict my number of searches! How is this different from RSS?
Australia doesn't really exist for you Americo-centric people, does it?
Horribly executed. Ever try to scroll to the bottom of the page? You can't. It keeps pulling in articles (regardless of whether you tried to mark all as read). And even though I had it set to refresh every fifteen minutes, it was constantly pinging the server. And there is no link anywhere in the application to get support or contact the publisher.
Are you kidding! I was expecting this app to give me headlines and the associated article in a streamlined text based format. Instead, I get two sentences and a "publisher does not allow full text" message and a link to go to NYT, AP, LA Times and many others website. If I wanted to go to their website I would just bookmark it and be done with it. To add to the pain, the first page of news articles included articles that were over a month old. But you only find that out when you have to go to the webpage on the providers site again with the same message and link as described above. Totally useless for me.
try to sign up for a new account, and i get to point where i verify my email, and it pops open a blank page. So i go back to the main page, and try to do a password reset (because i never got to set one) and it brings me to the same blank page again. so there is no way to sign up and actually use this, as it just keeps going to blank pages.
I was looking for a replacement for Yahoo's start page. This ain't it. Everything you click on says "Somebody else owns this content. Click here to go to their page."
It is not "personal" stream, there is no DELETE button for the sources I do no want to read... Or it is hidden too far...
it just a random text u don't understand noting and they want your e-mail before u even see what is all about it like an old phone news in the 90 and the news are not very well in the category the y need .
Give up my email to "log-in" or sign in with "Facebook"? To read news feeds.... Pass and uninstall. Cya!
can't read articles
This app makes no sense to me. Wouldn't recommend to any one.
haven't had a chance to get deeply into it, but this is what you get when you ask for a rating right at the top...looks good.
bring back iGoogle!! There was no reason to discontinue it!!
Nice options and decent looking, but WAY too slow & unresponsive. Click a button, wait 5 to 10 seconds for it to do anything. Pass.
Couln't login with twitter. Design is not very nice.
wish there was a way to RATE each article, so i can search 5 stars later
Too US-centric. What about the rest of the world?
It's OK... But please add ability to filter / BLOCK unwanted NEWS SOURCES.. I do not want to ever see Huffington Post again on Google News... Currently it only filters by News Headline, NOT Source Thanks
The website is a big buggy, like if you have a not so fast internet connections, you might not be able to even access the news when you click on one. You have to right click and open it in new tab to see it. Overall, it is pretty good.
just started
I can add specific news sources, but I cant delete ones that I don't want. fortunately, I can remove topics that completely don't interest me, like fashion.
slow but good
Slick interface. Often hangs when clicking on "Newsstand", though. Because of that, I haven't been able to add any sources.
nice but works very slow for me.
It's a bit dull and seems to give the liberal agencies better feeds.
Good application, I really like it. Beneficial would be to get rid of pictures, at least as option.
Should show brief content below Article, not open a window that we have to close, takes more time/ clicks to see next Article. Does not show how many unread Articles we have.
Seems does not work anymore. It remain "loading" forever.
Maybe I haven't figure it out yet, but I would like to add my own columns to refine my news.
I would give more stars but it is slow to load on my google chrome. I love the categories and the different ways you can sort the news! I just wish it was quicker!
Unfortunately you can't undo "mark as read" and the layout isn't great.
I would have given it a 5 star rating if would keep me logged in and stop requesting my username and password every other day!!!!
Could be faster. And have some extra options: - Choose the news you want to mark as read, with more news of a day; - Show number of unread news.
If adding new feeds were as easy as one click I probably would have given this 5 stars. The layout options are great, but some of the categories like world news and politics being grouped together are just plain wrong & what about local news by country - Where is that? Over all off to a nice start but still in need of some fine tuning to rate a 5 star app.
Great App! Loving having all my news in one place! Thanks Google
Have Google Reader support, and this would be top notch for me.
