Description

Perched on a rough-textured railing against a soft, green background, this bird is a female Eurasian Bullfinch (Pyrrhula pyrrhula). Unlike the striking rosy-pink chest of the male, the female exhibits a more subtle yet equally beautiful plumage. Her underparts are a delicate, pale brownish-grey to muted salmon, which complements the clean grey mantle on her back. Like the male, she possesses the prominent, velvety black cap and face, which frames her dark eye. Her short, exceptionally robust black bill, specialized for crushing seeds and buds, is a key morphological feature. Her overall appearance is one of reserved elegance and sturdy composure, reflecting the species' adaptation to temperate European woodlands and gardens.
